My family is interested in trying Atlantis. I'm willing to do whatever tour they have although would obviously prefer not to do so.

What's the best way to do this? A timeshare rental site? A promotional rate through the resort? (And if one does that, are you given lesser accomodations?)

Finally, if buying at this resort, is there a resale market?

Thanks,

Sharon

Oh,

I think you might be better just renting a week from a TUGger. There's a few for under $2K. Maybe negotiable?

It looks like those offers are for one bedroom villas only, right? We need a two bedroom. But thank you!!

Since this is a Starwood resort, and you asked about resales, I'm going to move your post to the Starwood board.

All the Starwood promos that I've heard of are for a hotel rm. or a studio.

There is an active Starwood Resales market.

For more about how Starwood works, see the FAQ at the top of the board.

Uh...I'm not asking about resales. I'm asking about visiting the resort, not buying it.

Sorry - maybe I misunderstood. Please clarify and we will see if we can help you.

We have several owners at this resort that post here and they can advise you about rentals & promos as well.

***Or if you would prefer that I move it back where it was, just let me know.

Good luck!

Well, in your first post you did ask about resales:

Finally, if buying at this resort, is there a resale market?

Thanks,

Sharon

I believe that's why Denise moved your post.

If you check the sightings board, you will see that certain times of the year there are 'bulk' deposits into II - but they are usually the fall, January and May - but I believe you are restricted to school vacations???

Possibly a direct exchange with an owner would be your best bet to get the time of year you need..

Since we wanted to go when school was out (Spring Break) we didn't bother to try II and rented direct from an owner who advertised on TUG.

I will be there in two weeks. I will find out if they have an Explorer package that gives you a 2 bedroom. The only ones I've ever seen have been for hotel rooms in the Coral/Beach towers or 1 bedroom deluxes, but perhaps they will give you a larger unit for a little extra money? Not sure, but I'll find out.

Debra...how was the rental fee?

Thanks Arlene.

Yeah...it would be nice to do a direct exchange but hard to get it organized. I'm sure Atlantis owners can pretty much go wherever they want.

I did this promo and if you need a 2 bedroom if they are available they will do that as well for additional cost.

But if I was you I would rent from someone on TUG/Redweek etc...

What do you mean by "bulk"?

With Starwood, the developer chooses the weeks that are deposited with II for exchange. They are usually off-season weeks which do not have such a high-demand. So when Starwood deposits a number of units all at once - they deposit, "in bulk." Late on, when owners ask to make a II exchange, the weeks are selected from the weeks that were deposited in bulk.

If you follow the TUG Sightings Board, you will often see bulk deposits listed.

For more info. about Starwood and II, see the article linked in the Owner Resources sticky at the top of the page.

Yes, large numbers of units all at once - with Harborside, it tends to be Sept-November, January and May.

Other locations, such as Arizona and California, it is high season as well as low and a lot at once.

Hawaii resorts tend to happen throughout the year - January, April.....the fall.

Westin St John,,,,hardly any at all

Yes - you have to be a TUG member (paid) to see the Sightings Board and the TS Review Boards. It will be the best $15 you ever spent, plus you get a free classified Ad with membership.

Hi holdem - Even though you are a member, you cannot access those forums until you change your status to member. Notice that under your name it still says you are a guest.

This his how you do it - http://www.tugbbs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=53

Once you change your status you will find the Sightings & Distressed Forum right under the TUG Lounge Forum.
