I'm hoping someone can tell me how far it is from Ocho Cascades to the Walmart in PV? We are headed there later this month and there are a few things that we need to pick up when we get there that we can't take on the plane with us.

TIA!

Jan

an 8 peso bus ride

or a 50 peso cab ride from most of the golden zone resorts. Is Ocho Cascades in town or out in Conchas Chinas? If it is then a 8 peso bus ride or a 80 peso cab ride.
We will be out in Nuevo starting the 17th for 2 weeks, so we will go to the new Wal-mart just north of Nuevo, a 50 peso cab ride.

Walmart is about halfway between the airport and downtown PV - Conchas Chinas (where Ocho Cascadas is located) is just past downtown.

To get to Ocho from the airport you go right past Walmart. So if you are renting a car or you are taking a taxi, you can stop by Walmart on the way.

If you're going to to take the bus to Walmart, you will need to walk down to the highway and catch any bus heading into town. Then once you are downtown you will need to transfer to a northbound bus - almost all of the north bound buses go to Walmart, and all buses going to Walmart say "Walmart" on the front window. Each leg of the bus ride is 7 pesos, so 14 pesos each direction.

Riding time by bus would probably about half an hour to forty-five minutes, depending on how long it takes you to catch the bus to or form Conchas Chinas. If you take a cab it will probably be about one-half hour travel time - I don't know what the fare would be.

There are other stores closer than Walmart...
Mega is just past the Sheraton Buganvilias, just as you leave the cobblestoned area.
Further down is Soriana, in Plaza Caracol across from Fiesta Americana.

Thank you for the info everyone! We are really looking forward to our trip in a few weeks. Our first trip to PV and I've got to get on the ball and figure out what we want to do that week.

Karen, thank you for the info on the Mega. I don't know if they will have what we are looking for. Don't laugh....we need some Atkins shakes and breakfast bars. We can take the breakfast bars with us from home but can't take the Atkins shakes on the plane (we do not check our luggage). So, it is just easier to buy the stuff down there IF they have it. We figure Walmart will have Atkins products but I have doubts as to the Mega. Not sure how many people in Mexico are low-carbing it. :D And why would they with all that wonderful food down there? We plan on eating, too of course but do try to watch the carbs a bit. It's hell to be getting older and worried about "muffin middle!"

Pork Rinds or Chicharones are Atkins approved and all the stores carry them:whoopie:
And all the stores have the good Mexican Cheeses
our favorite being Oaxaca  Add some avocado and you are good to go.
Farm fresh eggs too. and fresh Martiquilla (Butter)
Just some ideas for the Atkins followers
And the wonderful restaurants have fish chicken and avocados.

Barbeque,

Yep! Sounds like our diet. We actually follow more of the South Beach diet but the things you mentioned work for that. Hubby loves eggs so that works for him well enough but me....not so much. So, I drink an Atkins shake and have a breakfast bar. If we can't find the shakes - no big deal. Plenty of other yummy foods to eat. And actually I'm trying to drop just a few more pounds so I don't have to worry if I eat a little more. Thanks!
