It hasn't hit Taco Bell yet, I'm partial to an egg and potato breakfast burrito when I head out to play golf.

$7 a dozen in some parts of the US.
They have been as high as $9 per dozen in my area, but think they have come down a bit. There was a few weeks of almost no inventory. At least now they are available

Over the past several weeks I have been to the local Costco several times. They have had zero Eggs. At Safeway and Krogers they have been $27 to $33 for 5 Dozen.

Formerly: Marriott, ILX, Westin, Diamond, Worldmark. Timeshare free as of 12/24.
Trader Joe’s prices were still around $4 last week. But the egg case was pretty sparsely filled when I was there. Got my eggs home and only then noticed “dark yolks” on the box. Quite orangey compared to regular eggs but taste the same to me.

Shh! Don't let the airlines or the hotel chains get wind of this. Marriott hotels, especially those offering breakfast, might then have resort fees, parking fees, and an additional egg fee.

We cannot find eggs on Maui. We tried three stores yesterday. Rick eats an egg every day for breakfast. He is very disappointed he cannot find eggs. I eat a protein pancake.

One of the local restaurants in our area has increased prices for breakfast items with eggs. I think they went up something like $1.00. We can still find eggs, but they are in shorter supply and we're limited as to how many we can buy.

Hmmm, last time I went, a few weeks ago, it was $8.50 for 2 dozen at Sam's. I don't actually eat a lot of eggs really so not much nevermind to me, though I do like them sometimes for breakfast.

I checked at Safeway by my house in San Jose today, and eggs were 9.95 dozen, or 16.95 for 18

I don't pay for eggs. (Well, I paid for the lumber, hardware cloth and considerable sweat-equity for my "free" eggs.) But I don't do this for the savings. I do this because the eggs are so much better than store-bought. You can really taste it when making mayonnaise and Caesar dressing, too.

But I don't understand the concern at all. Egg prices plummeted last week. I'm sure people will go back to throwing eggs and toilet paper at grumpy people's houses for Halloween this year.

At our local Smith's (Kroger) Large were about $.60 a pop ($7/doz) and the high end- cage free/Eggland's Best/Jumbo size, etc. are close to a buck apiece. I can live with it. They say that it will take up to a year- depending on the trajectory of H1N1 bird flu- to either resolve or if H1N1 jumps to humans (It's already in mammals- (cows), this potential pandemic could get scary (again).

I bought 18 Large at Sam's this morning for 5.52, about 30 cents each, in Indiana. There were plenty, including the large cases restaurants buy. They were more like 19 cents not too long ago, so this is a 50% increase, but only an 11-cent increase.

I imagine Waffle House gets them cheaper than that. Given that there is no additional labor or overhead cost due to the price of the eggs, why did they add a 50-cent surcharge? Answer: because they can.
