Vistana web page won't let me book, though we are in the Aventuras 12-8 month window.

Trying to book our Aventuras points for Jan 2023 at Lagunamar, but the Vistana owners web page says our booking window does not open until May. Aventuras owners supposedly have an 12-8 month booking window. What's going wrong here? Do we have to prepay 2023 fees to get this window to open?

Perhaps there is no Aventuras inventory available at Lagunamar? What you may be seeing out there is weeks based home resort inventory.

Why would there be no Aventuras inventory? Other Aventuras members don't release weeks, as other owners do.
Where do Aventuras weeks come from, anyway?

Aventureas inventory comes from inventory owned by the corporation that operates Aventuras (I don't really know the ownership structure). Since Lagunamar was mostly sold out when Aventuras came along, there aren't as many Lagunamar weeks in Aventuras as there are perhaps Los Cabos.

Obvious question but have to ask it. Are you trying to book more inventory than the points you own? If so it is looking for staroptions not home options.

If it's a case of no Aventuras inventory available, why aren't they telling us so? Window not open is not the right answer.

Are you trying to book more than what your points can do? If that’s the case then it’s outside of your home resort period and would need staroptions, which is 8 months out.

In other words if you are using any banked points the window for those are 8 months (or less if using restricted options).

Update...Thanks go to the concierge folks here at Lagunamar. It's the best concierge service we have found anywhere. They put me though to a knowledgable man in Orlando, who got us onto the right track.
It turns out that the Vistana web page is broken. It should have been letting us book for Jan 2023. The man in Orlando did the booking for us...for the first 13 nights of our planned stay. I am to call back tomorrow to book the remaining 13 nights.
So Aventuras availability was never the issue.
FWIW, I also received an email from Vistana that sheds added light on the issue. It seems that no one is allowed to use home options for anything longer than 2 week stays. Hence the need to make 2 bookings for longer stays.
I hope this info helps others.
By the way, Lagunamar treated us and 15 other owners to a very tasty 4-course dinner with wine pairings at La Cenacola on Tuesday evening. You might keep your eyes and ears open for this if you stay here.

I think the issue here is the 14 night maximum on HomeOption bookings. I think Westin and Sheraton Flex are like this. I think StarOptions allow for 21 day max.

How were you trying to make the reservation online as the maximum number of days in the drop down on the reservation page is 21?

As I reported above, home options owners can't book for anything longer than 2 weeks. So we were seeking one booking for 13 or 14 nights, to be followed with another for the remaining nights.
