Is anyone aware of the accurate expiration date of any points that were earned under Vistana? Back when the programs combined in 2016 we transferred a bunch of points over to Bonvoy. We intended to use most of them for some buy 4, get 1 free night packages that we haven't had a chance to use yet. When I read the terms and conditions in Bonvoy it sounds like after 6 years those points or any earned for doing updates, etc. will just disappear from your account. When I call customer service I get mixed answers where some agents say they dont expire, others say they do but they don't know if the lump transfer at conversion has the 6 years expiration also and they don't know how they determine if they use those points first when you make a reservation with points. Wondering if anyone knows for sure because any of us who transferred points over in 2016 will be coming up on our 6 years in 2022 if we haven't used them up yet. I know they devalue by the year, just was hoping to have a bit more time to not feel rushed to use as still using up covid condo rescheduled weeks. Thanks!

I would like to know the answer to this as well. I have 3.7M Bonvoy points earned through a mixture of hotel stays (I traveled a lot for work), Amex credit card, and various SPG/Vistana incentives. I have no way of knowing what points came from where in that total. But I’m betting some of the SPG/Vistana ones are well over 6 years old, and I have never had any expire (yet).

I use them often, but haven’t managed to lower my total points much.

They are supposed to expire six years after conversion. The Bonvoy system is supposed to use up the oldest points first, so redemptions should come from your converted points first.

In the old days it used to be if you redeemed and cancelled hotel reservations repeatedly (not the same one back to back, but make bookings1 2 3 4 and then cancel 2 4 1 3 so in a different order and repeat over and over with different length bookings at different places for different points amounts) it would supposedly lose the original expiration date as it didn't keep track at a detailed enough level to put things back in to the expiry Bucket they came from. I don't know if this still works...

Back j when Ambassadors were a personal thing, they were willing/able to tell you how many points were attached to what expiry dates
