Listening to Marriott sales pitch offering 750 points at $17.71 each to get us to “Select/Platinum” status. Feedback. Not really interested but supposedly opens up significantly more property and a lot less points when reserving.

You don't get any points discounts at 30 or 60 days with Select. So it doesn't open up more for less. The main benefit is not having to pay the point premium for 7+ night reservations at 13 months. You don't get 1+ nights at 13 months. The benefits simply aren't worth it.

As stated by @dioxide45 you don't get any points discounts at Select. Points discounts, which are only for booking within 30 (or 60, depending on Owner Benefit Level) days of the stay, begin at Executive and higher. You also don't get access to more properties, the only thing that changes is WHEN you can book at certain properties , the minimum number of nights required at different lead times and whether or not you pay additional points at certain lead times. But lead times and minimum-night stays aside, every MVC member has access to all the same properties, assuming they have enough points to book them.
