VIP treatment (?)

I was at a Club Wyndham resort recently and they checked me in at 2pm when I arrived. No questions asked. I am not VIP and have almost always been told that the "unit is not ready" even when I have arrived at 3:30pm.

After being sent over to the Concierge Desk and being offered various incentives and opportunities for enlightenment and bettering my life, all of which I declined, the sales lady said that "since you are a VIP, I can ...". I told her that I was not VIP. She said "but you are". So I said "oh, that way" without verbalising my thoughts that "you are buttering me up as someone special". And she said "yes, that way", whatever she meant. I let it go and went to my unit without accepting any offers.

Then, the day before I checked out, I got a text from someone with some senior title in Sales saying that since I was a special owner, he would like to go over some stuff with me etc. I ignored that as well but was confused about being suddenly special.

I logged in to my account to check if I had accidentally received honorary VIP-hood from Wyndham even though I am a lowly owner of a single Biennial contract. I could not see anything different about my ownership specifics. So I am wondering if they were just being nice (in checking me early) or if a system glitch somehow showed me as being a VIP owner.

Also, how does one get oneself removed from the offers of incentives for attending updates etc.? I find the whole exercise of persistence from them and refusal from me while remaining polite very burdensome when all I want to ask is "which part of No didn't you understand?".

They keep calling me a VIP owner at the concierge desk too, even though all my points are resale and I have no benefits. Of course everyone here knows I got the best benefits possible, since I paid almost nothing. In fact if I go to a few more updates, they will end up giving me more money than I paid for them. Just in 2025 I got 3 updates at 150 each and last one agreed to only 100 since it was the third one at Shawnee in 3 months and I wanted to know was if my January reservation would be honored, which it was. Fortunately, during that visit there was no sales reps to try and sell me more points.

By the way, we were in Atlantic City this past weekend and Skyline Tower was dark and empty. We did speak with the security guard, who said only a couple of people are still working there. He has no idea when it will be sold or what will be done with it.
