I just purchased vIp package yesterday…looking at the paper that he stuffed folded into packet, I realize now for $1695 its only for 7 nights…not the two full weeks (vacations) he told me we would get…I want to cancel this stupid deal - I am mad at myself for getting sucked into purchasing. $1695 for a week with lots of stipulations is not good…do I have 10 days to cancel this—- seeing something about that when I googled it?! Should I go back to where I had the presentation?? The $1695 is pending on credit card…what does Tug community recommend? I already left a VM for my sales person and called the corporate orlando office and left vm. Hopefully, I am not out of luck and can cancel?!!! Please let me know if you know anything on this!!

Signed,
I should have know better and really read the fine print….they just got me!!! (High pressure)

Good catch. The documentation should include cancel/rescission instructions. I know an actual TS purchase does, but not as sure on the details about the package. Check the docs. Do not call sales person or visit sales center. They will not help you.

Cheers.

Thank you, I said no so many times - but not sure what the heck happened…I gave over my credit card and next thing I know I bought it! Ugh! I do not see rescind instructions…will look further at paperwork! Thank you for your response!!

A similar thread which I think will be helpful.

Be grateful that you didn't sign up for a $46K package.
New rule for TS presentations: Don't pull out a CC, ever.
Don't let them "just check your credit score," ever.

Technically you can get two weeks usage, if you stay in a studio in the lowest (bronze) season, so it was a typical sales exaggeration.

you can get great value from these we did at least two over the years before we finally bought (resale).

It actually says in the contract he slid in the folder that I did not see that the most nights you can use is 7 - it was a total lie that I could get 2 weeks out of this VIP package. Its the principle for me. I was totally misled. Ugh! Feel so aggravated! Will be calling first thing in the AM! Hoping I can get my $$$ back!! I will post my results! Fun times on vacation!! I know it could be worse…thank you for responses!

I understand that you felt lied to, but would you realistically want to spend low season in a resort for 2 weeks? Think mud season.

It's not a bad deal if you use it in high value locations such as Hawaii and avoid inexpensive areas such as Vegas and Florida. We've bought about 3 VIPs over the years but had certain visits in mind based on the selection. It was a great way to gain the usage of a TS vacation without the annual maint fee burden.

FWIW...With the VIP you are limited to 7 days even if you can stretch the points. However, what you can do is break the VIP into 2 vacations (1: 4 day and 1: 3day) at two different resorts. You will only be required to attend a presentation during one of the visits.

What are the locations in your current package? You can get a 2 bdrm for $242/night. That's a good price if you compare to hotels. Suggest you start planning your vacation(s) now and be happy you have no further obligations. Enjoy!

Definitely see your points. The locations are the typical…DC, Hawaii (dont think we will get there), Virginia, orlando, south carolina, etc - I guess what sold me was the two trips/vacations…so sneaky what they did - I am annoyed at myself. Will post more when I know more tomorrow! Also, seems like this package will be a big pain to use!! (So many stipulations!!!)

I didn't find it hard to use. You call the number and book the reservation.
I did the 3 days for $200 +/- in Orlando. I used the VIP as 4 days in NYC at W57th and 3 days in Myrtle Beach at Oceans 22. I sat through the pitch at Myrtle as I didn't want to waste my time in NYC getting pitched. The price was cheaper than I could have booked anything in NYC where $400+ a night is the norm. Good luck.

I also did not find the VIP hard to use if you reserve well in advance. If you wait until the last minute then you will find it impossible to find a reservation. If last minute is your mode of travel reservations, then you definitely should not buy a timeshare as those need to be reserved 9 mos to 1 year in advance (for HGVC ownership you can cancel up to 31 days prior without penalty). I am already planning our late 2024 and 2025 vacations now.

Update - - - I was refunded today! I am relieved! I called the # in packet but ultimately it was my salesperson who refunded me and for that I am grateful. He stated Hilton wants people to be happy!! I agree that $1695 for a 2 bedroom in hawaii or some other fabulous place would be a good deal….but I am not going to Hawaii anytime soon…. And I was under the impression I was getting 2 7 day vacations…again, I guess if it sounds too good to be true, it is!! Lol! Anyway, I am happy it all worked out!! I will forever check contracts way more closely….so will our children!! Lessons learned!!!
