We are just finishing a stay at the Villas of Cave Creek in the far north reaches of Phoenix, AZ with our three mini dachshunds. The resort is pet friendly for a $250 non refundable fee.
The units are ideal for traveling with small dogs. All the units are two story townhouses and the bottom floor is wood-look tile. The master bedroom, living room, dining area, kitchen and one bath are downstairs. Upstairs is carpeted, and has a bedroom, loft seating area with I assume a pull out sofa and a second bathroom. We gated off the stairs to the second story and just didn’t use that space (our party is two humans + 3 dogs).
Off the master bedroom is a small walled patio with a private hot tub, completely secure for the dogs. There’s a slightly bigger walled courtyard outside the front door- not completely secure because the gate doesn’t extend all the way to the ground. But we made it secure by putting some ex pen panels across. So we have impervious flooring and two impervious outdoor spaces- pretty sweet set up.
The resort has several lush grassy areas. Never saw any dog doo in it, people do pick up right away.
Its a small place, just one small central swimming pool and a couple of BBQ grills. There’s a wash adjacent to the property where we’d walk the dogs and see rabbits and quail everytime. The trail head to black mountain is right up the street. A little too much for dachsie legs but we walked a little way up. Plenty of pet friendly public spaces.
it’s about a 15 min drive to Browns Ranch, a stunning preserve that’s full of trails. I spent a bit of time mountain biking those trails! Great little trip!
