Hi all,
I’ve enjoyed reading a bunch of threads on here. Super helpful.
My uncle purchased an Elite VDP membership from Villa De Palomar Flamingos in 2017 (7100 points). He sadly then passed away in 2019. His wife is now listed as the member and his kids my cousins) are listed as users as well.
They are uninterested in going to Villa properties again. They have generously let my family go and have booked us some trips which we have enjoyed.
The purchase price is fully paid off and they stay current in maintenance fees. But they’re now ready to be done with it.
I believe they can surrender back to the Villa Group since it’s paid off and current. Is that a reasonably easy process?
But we’ve also talked about my family taking it over. I see in the rules and regulations, as well as reading here, that they only transfer to a direct family member without reverting to a premier membership. I’m super close to a direct family member! Has anyone heard of them making exceptions on the level of family member here.
Perhaps if they call them up and say “we’d like to surrender or alternatively you can accept a family member transfer to my nephew?”
Alternately I considered they could transfer to my mom (sibling of deceased member, sister in law of current member), and then mom could transfer it to me. But perhaps things would get weird through two transfers like that.
Any thoughts?
