Hi new here. We bought a winter gold membership resale through browsing this forum. This was our first time attending a members update meeting and first time using our new timeshare.

At the presentation we got a tour, then they sat us down went through the advantages of what we had and advantages of the points system. We couldn't really see much benefit to switching to points and seemed disinterested. At the end of the presentation the salesman brought out a form and that layer out what the cost would be to switch to points and asked us to initial. The form clearly said no obligation to buy and that the offer would expire after 18 months. I told him I don't sign anything without my attorney and he became offended and said fine but that it would go in my file anyways. He then came back with the same form and said this was our previous owners offer and we could still have this deal. We still said we wouldn't sign and were led out. Long story short what was this form we did not sign? Any experience with this?

Never heard of any such form. I totally agree with you nit signing it. The last update we had was in 2013. We also have a winter gold membership and can see no reason to ever switch to the point system. They have to keep coming up with new ways to try to get more money out of their members. I like what we have and find it very easy to get what I want! I have to laugh when I see their "elite" areas roped off with no one ever using them.

They badger you to initial some offer to gt you emotionally invested in the idea of signing an actual contract. I walked out on a car salesman for this tactic.

Chris, I think you did good by not signing anything. Mexican TS salesweasels are notorious for lying like rugs and charging unsuspecting folks exorbitant amounts for stuff they can do just as well without. I don't know what this form was about, but suspect it was one of the many point systems that are cropping up like mushrooms that are strictly in-house, and have no trade ability with any other point system.

It was just a one page form. That showed the price to switch. It also clearly was highlighted and said no obligation to buy. Both the form and the salesperson stated the "offer" expired after 18 months.

I'm glad we didn't sign but am really curious what the form was and what it would/could have meant. I don't see how it would be a contract as there were no terms just a price and an authorization signature section.

Good for you.

We've never been asked to sign anything. I think we've done something like 6 updates so far as best as I can recall.

I think the form was just timeshare sales BS...nothing more - as was mentioned - just another step in the sales ladder to get you more committed to some sort of action.

Just curious...which resort? Sounds like the crew at Flamingos. We had our worst experience ever there.

Villa De Arco. It honestly wasn't that bad. After we wouldn't sign they pretty much were like alright we will check you out and we left to get our incentives. He got a little frustrated at first and looked at us like we were dumb but that's about it

Well you cost him his commission. In his mind, you are an idiot. In mine, a genius.

I totally agree! I will never do another update at Flamingos. The salesman there are much more aggressive and embellish (I won't say lie) to the nth degree. Last time, I had a heated conversation with the salesman there regarding information about Gold privileges/membership. After we got back to our unit in PV, I found the proof on what I was saying at UVC online and called to set him straight. He refused to take my call giving me no choice but to report him to his supervisor. That was my last and final update for the piddly incentives they give to owners. I used to like going to hear abput future plans but refuse to be treated like that. I always said if I wanted to put up with that kind of BS, I would go to work and at least be well paid for it. Now that I am no longer working, I am living a BS free life whenever I can!:cheer:

Our last presentation at Flamingos was a hoot. It was supposed to be an owner update but it was a sales presentation. When we went in I asked questions about the UVC properties because as an owner, I wanted to know certain things about the resorts.

It wasn't bad as far as presentations go. I like my contracts the way they are with my rtu's expiring in the next 8 to 10 years.

We had a much better experience in Loreto. The first level person we met had just moved from new sales to owner updates. She was not pushy at all, and when she figured out that we were unlikely to upgrade, she spent the rest of the time giving us some useful tips for using Interval. The second level person came in, looked at our point balance and said he didn't have much to offer. He answered a few questions about the accelerated use system, but took "no" graciously and let us go with no pressure.

By the way, for us the point system was worth the upgrade fee we paid in 2009, We originally purchased a 2 bedroom summer week in 2003 with the understanding that we could use it for a 1 bedroom in the winter. We discovered, however, that we were limited to a 60-day reservation window; and of course, nothing we wanted was ever available on such short notice. We were introduced to points when that system was new and we got a better than usual price at that time. Since then, we have enjoyed much more flexibility for size and season. I believe the prices are much higher now and not worth it if you already own a winter week; but for us, it turned our original summer lemon into a bit of lemonade.
