Viking cruise - airport to hotel question

A Viking cruise is in our future: Amsterdam to Basel. We want to go a few days early to Amsterdam, on our own, which means we forego the Viking transfer assistance. What is the best way to get from the AMS airport to the Central Station area, where we are looking at hotels? Rail, bus, uber, other? Thanks.

We have used shared shuttles several times. (just another hint- look at hotels in the Museumplatz area.- Rijsmuseum, Van Gogh lots of hotels/restaurants)

Easiest, fastest, cheapest way is by train. Trains leave every 15-20 minutes from below Schiphol airport to Centraal station, take about 15 minutes to get there, and cost about 5 Euros.

Have you tried asking Viking directly about arranging the transfer for a few days earlier? You won't be the first to want to do that. From my experience, it can be done, but my experience is not with Viking.

Thanks. I did ask and since I would not be using their "pre" cruise experience hotel package, they do not provide transfer assistance.

Depending on your luggage, as Blue suggested train will work fine. If you can't manage your baggage, then take Passepartout's advice for a private or shared transfer.

I have used welcome pickups in the past to get from the airport to a hotel. Pretty reasonable, nice to have someone waiting for you. As Beejaybee said if you have a lot of luggage a car or van might be a better option.
