View from the Hyatt Sunset Harbor, Key West most days

There seems to be a lot of discussion about comparing the three Hyatt resorts in Key West. Here's why I think Sunset Harbor should be stricken off everyone's list. This was not taken from within Sunset Harbor but this would indeed be your view until about 5 or 6 pm, pretty much every day. And it's fun to people watch and see some of the characters that often come off these ships, but that might be fun for a few hours or minutes, but not seven days.

What is pictured above is the view looking at the pier on Sunset Lane, likely in the morning. Sunset Lane is busy when the cruise ships are in which is 4 to 5 days per week when the cruisers leave the ship. They depart before sunset (4 or 5 pm)...and below is from the balcony. I can say that if your in the pool, or relaxing around they pool the cruise ships have little effect on the view as one could not see over pier B anyway.

I've never been in or at the Sunset Harbor's pool so I guess what you're saying is that, when you're at the pool, you can't see over the pier anyway so the best you'd have 24/7 is "pier view". But if you were somewhere above pool level, you'd either have a nice waterfront view or "cruise ship view" depending on what daytime hours the cruise ship(s) may be in town. My question is, if the cruise ship is scheduled to be out of there at 6 pm (1800), is that the time they start firing up the engines to leave, or are they actually way out to sea by then?

But if I had exchanged into the resort, either as a Hyatt owner or as an Interval International exchanger, I might NOT request the alleged oceanfront view but, instead, the "away from the oceanfront" view, if such units exist. I'd rather look at a nice garden than a cruise ship (again, IF such "garden view" units exist).

And, of course, some people could care less about the view. Just get them to Duval Street and the many bars' Happy Hours!

A few FWIW:

• Regarding the question of cruise ship scheduled departure time, it is when they push away from the dock.
• The March cruise ship schedule you attached includes both Pier B (privately owned dock) and Mallory Square (owned by the City of KW). So the schedule isn't as busy as it looks.
• January thru March is prime time cruise season. So outside of prime cruising season, a ship will not be at Pier B "pretty much every day" the rest of the year.
• The comparison of the three Hyatt resorts in Key West typically boils down to Windward Pointe and Beach House units are nicer than Sunset's. However about half of the units at Sunset Harbor can be locked off while WP and BH are only 2 bd units. And Sunset Harbor always wins with the location category.
• While you think "Sunset Harbor should be stricken off everyone's list", the thought loses some traction since you've never been to Sunset Harbor,
• Sunset Harbor's annual occupancy percentage is typically either #1 or #2 in the HRC system.

The best part of this is that the people that want a guaranteed no cruise ship view can easily get a reservation at WP and BH.
But the people that haven't stricken Sunset Harbor off their list are left with this once the cruise ships sail on.

And there's a big suckah in the harbor. Although not near as big as others. The Margaritaville whatever was late today (was supposed to have been there at 12 Noon) so I don't know if it'll be departing on time for Progreso, Mexico at 7 pm. We shall see.

If it leaves on time, the cruise passengers got screwed on their Key West exploration due to the late arrival. I'd demand my money back!

Yes. Unless, of course, you realize you're late to return to your cruise ship...in which case you're doing the opposite of "relaxing and slowing down".
