We love it here, and we do sit on the lanai all morning, then about 2:00 PM, we move to the inside and close the blinds because it heats up in here. We face west and no AC, which is fine at this time of year. In summer, it's brutal, especially when the trades stop blowing. There is a spot on the lanai, around the corner, where you can cool off no matter how warm it is on the island. The trades are strong from that corner, and yesterday we came back from a walk and our furniture was all strewn about on that side.

Too bad the fees have increased so drastically at Hono Koa. When we first bought our three weeks, we paid $1400/week with taxes, and now it's over $2,000 for a week with taxes. They are 2 bed, 2 bath, and they have a great kitchen and washer/dryer, but the cost goes up $100 every year lately. You know people aren't paying, and the competition for the weeks in the oceanfront units at one year out is fierce, when you want whale season. We call on the dot of 9 AM Mountain Time to get our weeks. It's only 6 AM here, when we are calling. We set the alarm.

There are only 4 units of 27 that are oceanfront. The ones next to us are the Hala units, and they have good views, but it's just not the same. And no guarantees of a Hala that is right next to our unit. The Hala are the three units closest to our units.

Definitely remember the heat when we were at Valley Isle a few years ago. We were on the tenth floor and got a great breeze but the sun made the lanai unbearable in the heat of the afternoon. On that side of the island it is definitely better to enjoy in the morning and have plans for later. The evenings are wonderful too. Not to mention the whales are more active in the morning and evenings.

We definitely miss the lanai here on Oahu but we can’t have everything.:)

A few years ago for 2 weeks. The Trades stopped for a couple days. It quickly became unbearable outside.

Molokai has been under clouds almost every day, but today you could see the bottom half of the island. Lanai has been very visible every day.

The south side of the island sure had a lot of whale activity yesterday. We went to Kihei for lunch and then to Costco. So many whales breaching. We have a total of six weeks here on the island. The wind is crazy right now.

Yes, I see Molokai has had some wind also. We always have more clouds on the east side of Molokai also. They can definitely use the rain on the east side. I have heard that they have gotten some rain there and everyone is happy about it.

This time of year is great for whales in the channel so enjoy all of the sightings and breaches. We usually see some from our lanai but we enjoy going down to the cabana in the mornings to watch from there too. We can see Lanai from there but we usually see more watching Maui.

Crazy windy here on Oahu also. Sounds like it’s supposed to be like that all the way through next week.

Do you have WorldMark points or VI points? We have friends staying at Valley Isle now, and they are in a studio, which they got with VI points. It's ninth floor and oceanfront. It's a very nice studio with full kitchen.

I thought about VI points for years but never pulled the trigger. We got an exchange there. We weren’t oceanfront but it was still an oceanfront view in front and to the south.

We had a one bedroom and it was a VI unit. The only thing my wife didn’t like was no A/C. I think being in that back building made it a little warmer but that afternoon sun heated up the whole unit.

We liked the location and Dollies across the street was great. They still have our favorite pizza in all of Hawaii.

Last night we saw a moonbow at about 9:30 PM. The moon was full and there was just the right amount of moisture in the air. It would fade and then come back again for about 15 minutes. We had dinner with a Maui native last night in our friend's Koa unit and he said that he has only seen four counting this one, and I would guess he is about our age, but I don't know if I would offend, if I asked him.

Rick got a pretty good picture with his iphone. I want him to post it on Facebook, so I can copy it here, if I can figure that out. From my own iphone, it's easy. Love being here at Hono Koa.

He could directly send you the picture via Airdrop. We do that a lot.

Saw a moonbow sailing before. It is certainly like seeing a unicorn. You have to have all the right conditions. Low moon, near full or full moon, right moisture in the air, etc. So remember it will, it may never happen again.

How many more weeks are you at the Hono Koa?
Very lucky to see a moon bow!

That is our view again from unit #401, Hono Koa. The black in the middle is a pair of whales, but honestly, it's not a good picture. We are here for 3.5 weeks. Anyone on the island?

@rickandcindy23 did you start another thread that is for ALL timeshare balcony views. I can't find it after searching multiple words. Or do you know where it is.
