Hello, My name is Miguel and on our trip to Puerto Vallarta I bought a membership timeshare from Vidanta for 15k and was wondering if this was a good investment because supposedly they had very low prices for rooms in the future with the use of their membership. Please let me know if this was a scam.

The sales rep also said I could rent my weeks every year if I didn’t use them to pocket the money for myself.

First. Timeshare is NOT an investment. And if you are going to rent your weeks, you will also be paying the resorts annual fees, AND you will be competing against their own rentals. You cannot win at this game.

Rescind while you can.

Jim

Other than it being hard to rent my weeks, if I were to stay with it would the prices actually be much lower to stay at a hotel for a week or two with Vidanta? They also said that what they were offering me wasn’t a timeshare but better than one because you could rent your weeks or cancel at anytime. Thanks for responding

People can rent the timeshare weeks they own. I bet you can’t really cancel. Cancel what?

If you are within the rescission period , mail that letter today.
Ask questions later.
You have better things to do with $15K.

Do you have any pointers on how to cancel the Vidanta membership the quickest, I came on August 28 and got it on the same day. I also leave on September 3 from Puerto Vallarta.

Miguel,

It seems like you are happy with your purchase. Please enjoy it.

TUG is about getting the best value out of timeshare dollars spent and we are concerned you will not feel that way in a year or two. Maybe you feel that way now, maybe you don't.

Timeshare purchases in the end are personal preference and if you like it, you like it.

If you're asking how to rescind, please read the contract you signed. We are not able to offer legal opinions to you, maybe there is an attorney near you.

Miguel, there will be instructions in your packet. They will not be easy to find. You have 5 days to get it in the mail. We suggest using mail instead of going to the sales office. They will not help you.

The letter can be simple, hand written if necessary. Like: I/We wish to cancel the purchase of contract #__________________ dated 8/28/2023.
Signed_____________ husband and _____________________wife

If you can include a copy of the signature page for ID purposes it wouldn't hurt.

If you are still at the resort, make an appointment with Owner Services and hand deliver the letter to them, and be sure to have them give you a receipt for it. You don't have to give them a reason. You are just exercising your right to rescind.

Good Luck!

Jim

Since you are still in the rescission period, do it! Don’t let them sweet talk you into anything else. The deals will always be there. Go home and research timeshares to see what, if any, system is best for you. You are smart to have found Tug.
