Greetings!

It's been about three years since we've used our Mayan Palace week: it has gone to family or friends. Anyway, back in Feb. 2023 we paid our annual maintenance fee (we have an old contract (2002) with mandatory fees).

My question is: I can't remember how long we have to use our 2023 week(s) with Vidanta. Can I use my 2023 week in 2024, or does it expire December 31, 2023?

Thanks for helping jog this old man's memory!! :)

I always book in December for the following summer using my current (year) week. Ie. Use my 2023 week for 2024. It's cheaper since the MF always go up. :)

We've been owners now for about 5yrs (purchased via TUG Re-sales) what we have done to accommodate our family is every other year trips - we pay an extra $45 to hold a year over so we can have 2 units for use. So far we've been quite happy with doing this and Vidanta, while not saying this is an option have been quite acceptable of the arrangement, you just have to ask about holding the year over......

Hi @musictom
As @Pizza67 outlined - your Mayan Palace contract has a 6 month booking window. Therefore if you call reservations up to Dec. 31 2023 - you can reserve a week through (at least) June 30 - 2024.(ie. 6 months) using your 2023 week.
As @PanaJack noted - Vidanta Customer Service seems to be very helpful in working with owners on positive resolutions of booking details.

Don't forget your VF week. It too can be used through Dec 31 2023 to book a 2024 week should you want more vacation.

[ our contract allows the 6 month booking of VF weeks for all months except Feb. & March ( Feb & March are 45 days) so I can book the
last week of Jan. using our VF week (called July 1) and the first week of Feb. using our registered week. (called Aug 1) ]

Also : reread your contract & see if it has a clause that allows a unit upgrade for 50% off the rack rate (upon availablity) .
I used this option last year ,and paid $ 700 more to get a 2 bedroom . This allowed friends to join us for a week.
FYI - the front desk can separately code the wrist band key for the lock-off bedroom - as @pittle noted years ago in a post.

Were the Sales person's lips moving? You can walk away. It is a RTU in Mexico. Nothing they can do.

What does your contract actually say?

Your registered week expires after 10 years and whether or not you renew your vacation fair (i.e. bonus) weeks at each 10 year renewal period is totally up to you. But obviously if you don't renew, your contract is finished and you have nothing left. In fact, if you don't have mandatory maintenance fees unless you visit, then once you sign the contract, you are not obligated to pay them anything more at that point if you don't want to. Your contract should be pretty clear about the renewal payments being optional. Any questions you may have regarding your contract should never be directed to sales, but instead to member services.

Our contract contains an addendum that allows us to carry over the use of a contract week into the next year as long as the usage fee is paid prior to year end. In other words, for us, a 2023 contract week can be used in 2023 or 2024 as long as the usage fee is paid prior to 12/31/23. But we have a GL contract and since there are SO many variations in contracts out there, you would have to look at yours to be sure.
