Vidanta Grand Luxxe in Puerto Vallarta

When did you stay?

We stayed in 2024 and I wouldn't say opulent since it was pretty worn but it's definitely Grand.

We had a two bed unit in tower five in winter 2022 for a couple weeks is what i think. Our room was newish with a very nice everything. The service was over the top. All of the restaurants were open.

My brother in law had a medical issue while we were walking to the Thia restaurant. Too much sun and not enough water is our guess. We took him inside tower 1 and the reception guy called a medical team that showed up within a few minutes. A doctor showed up within 10 minutes and ruled out heart attack and stroke. We decided to go back to our room and ordered room service. Later in the evening a different doctor showed up and took vitals and everything was good.

We would go back but through other means than ownership. I'm always checking but when adding the resort fee and restaurant costs , which are doable, but kind of high. To me, the biggest con is the feeling of being stuck on a huge property which is also the biggest pro.

Services and amenities have shown a great decline at NV since 2022. We stayed for 2 weeks in a GL 2 bedroom unit in 2024. It was very enjoyable.

Since they opened up so much more Vidanta property since we were there I think they may be spreading the employees a bit thin. Hopefully it's just a temporary adjustment.

Our family's stay in July at Grand Luxxe 3 in 2 2 bedroom villas was great. Service was excellent and all the restaurants were open. My family went with us for the first time (we have been to GL several times both RM and NV) and they all loved it. I didn't notice any run down facilities. Going to GL in RM in April, so it will be a good comparison.

Part of the beach directly in front of Buganvilia Vacation Club is quite rocky and probably unusable.
We stayed in the hotel side for a night in early March 2022 before our flight home ; and I recall the beach in the front of the hotel to the north side to be much better.
We were under a [rather low] hotel side palapa and I recall going into the ocean.

Anyone have an update on the Buganvilia area beach(s) ?
We use the pool at BVC mostly, but did spend time on the beach palapas in front of the hotel last February. They were okay, not crowded in good shape. Lounge hoarding at the BVC pools is another story! Going again this February and will pay more attention to the sand on the beach in front of those palapas. Can't complain and sun and 80 degrees F in February.

I have been to this resort a number of times and played 18 rounds of golf on the Norman course. I admit I have not played Nayar. Every time I book Vidanta the owner's addendum has 6 rounds per week and $50 for extras so I never end up playing Nayar.

Here are some of my thoughts:

When I was there in November they were starting to renovate the courses to change the hole arrangement. You should check the status of the course prior to going there as it could be significantly impacted. The Mexican open will be back late October.

The beach situation is not the best. It is a very long walk out there so you need to use the beach before noon because in the afternoon the sand will be like walking on molten lava. The water is OK, its wavy and not clear. There are so many spectacular pools at Vidanta which you will likely use instead.

Vidanta also charges a fee to reserve the GL cabanas which is not worth it.

The Lakes par 3 is interesting, and worth a try, but I probably wouldn't do it again. There are a lot of mosquitos, and the greens are very very slow. You can also get caught behind extremely slow people who have no idea how to play golf. Every hole is hit over water. I have a 6 handicap and never missed the green, but if you are not good, or those in your group are not, you will lose tons of balls. It's really cool to try at night.

I agree with others, the service level has decreased, but not significantly. Had I not visited over the years, I would not have been disappointed.
