Has anyone been able to stay there? I used Wyndham's site, and it says NO availability for the next 10 months. I know there are a few other resorts within 90 minutes, but it is the closest Wyndham resort to my older brother, who lives in Thousand Oaks CA. It's not super-important, but just curious why a Wyndham resort would show no availability (using "Next Available..." and varying days' length).

I have seen availability there before. Have to book a week at a time.

Over the years I have seen multiple units there on the Wyndham site. My sister lives in that immediate area and I look off and on for weeks or long weekends there. No, I have NOT stayed there, but my sister and family took me to lunch in a place in the nearby harbor area.

I searched each day length (5, 6, 7 days), and nothing came up in the next 10 months. It looks like I have a better chance of getting into the Wyndham in Anaheim (63 miles south of where my brother lives) than Harbortown Point. There are a couple RCI resorts closer (in Oxnard CA), but I have no interest in RCI (expensive).

Just a thought

Yes, We stayed there last September!

We were able to stay there last September. I believe it came up on Wyndham about 6 months before we went. Had a perfect set up for just the two of us. Reported on Tugs. I haven't seen anything come up there for a long time. Good luck!

Owners had to buy into Wyndham and many of them did not. So there is limited availability based on a limited number of owners participating.

The resort is listed as Limited number of accommodations. (pg 29 top of page). Definition for these classifications are on page 9. It explains that they have an average of 50 or less units per week. Since the next category down is Very Limited which is defined as an average less than 10 units per week.

So I would assume it is somewhere between 50 and 10 units per week, which is not that much really.

Reading the number of units available is a first start in level setting expectations about some of these smaller or affiliate resorts.

RCI Points June 14, 2013- Studio

If you have RCI points there is a Studio available on June 14. 28,000 points.
Don't know if they will help you out. SK

Thanks, but I was just checking for information. I was simply surprised that - at the time - there was no availability for 10 months.

Many associate resorts do not get inventory loaded out 10 months.

Worldmark resorts are subject to this frequently. I have been told, but not sure I believe, that WM first needs to figure out some of the WM demand by WM owners, and then based on reservations, start freeing up some inventory for the swap to Wyndham. The supervisor said that inventory is decided on a resort by resort basis. Some resorts apparently have better history and projection planning (or just guess) earlier in the year, and often prior to the 10 month mark, so this is WMs excuse.

The Ventura property availability is likely that someone has to figure out which inventory has been deposited into Wyndham vs used directly by owners. I also expect that to be a small subset of owners who actually converted to points. They probably have to confirm their use or deposit into Wyndham every year. I am just guess on this based on inventory showing up not on specific operational knowledge.

The interesting thing is, Harbortown Point is a Club Wyndham Plus resort, similar to Star Island. The resort gives a small # of suites to Wyndham, while Wyndham does not manage the resort. I'm not sure how the resort decides which suites to give out to Wyndham. Star Island, on the other hand, always has availability 10 months out in Wyndham.

I guess, similar to Wyndham owners wanting Worldmark, the saying is "be very flexible".

That is NOT so with Star Island. There were 2 brothers who built and operated Star Island. Before Disney, it was the closest TS to WDW. But one of the brother's got into a DIVORICE and had to sell 1/4 share of Star Island (the wife's share) of the unsold. Wyndham came into owning some of the buildings under construction at the time --- units/buildings which were NOT yet complete and therefore, not yet sold to individual TS owners - basicly, SOME of the TOWERS. That is the Wyndham inventory --- it is on the Wyndham reservation computer, not the Star Island system. SI (nonWyndham resort section) is an II resort. Wyndham has been depositing their inventory based upon their longterm owners who have II member accounts and their newer owners into RCI. Believe me, the Front Desk keeps it on separate systems - I just love the Front Desk attitude - they are Star Island employees and NOT impressed with anything Wyndham, esp VIPs.
