Velas Vallarta
Hi! I'm new to TUG (heard about it through a work colleague). I am an owner at Velas Vallarta in Puerto Vallarta (since 2012) and go every year. I just love, love, love it there. I wasn't able to find any current threads on Velas (so much to navigate here...lol). Was just wondering if there were any other current Velas Vallarta owners on TUG?

Hi @pvbound
Welcome to TUG & the Mexican Forum.

There are Velas threads- but not too many & not any I am aware of that get regularly added to.
[ I am going by memory - as a 8+ year reader of the Mexican Forum ].
I did a walk thru of the very nice Velas property in the PV Marina a few years ago ;when using our Mayan week (down the street ) at the Mayan Palace PV- Marina.

When do you go to PV in 2024 ?
Do you just go for a week at a time or multiple weeks yearly ?

Perhaps this thread can be the "Velas Thread" if you add information from regularly staying there - and that may attract more owners to post.

Hi T-Dot-Traveller! Thank you for your welcome and words of advice. I always go to Vallarta in November for 2 weeks. It is my favourite time of year. I’ll be sure to add more info after my trip this year! I have walked through the Mayan Palace in the Marina and it is quite lovely.

This was a while back. Just curious if you are still around. There is not a lot of information about Velas timeshare that I can find. Would be interested to ask you some questions.

I see the Velas resorts on RCI everytime I look at PV but for exchanging they have a manadatory all inclusive fee with no price so I move on. Are owners required to participate in the all inclusive ?

Hi, yes I am still around...lol. I haven't been on the site in a while. I know that there is not a lot of info on Velas, that I can see. But I am happy to answer any questions you might have, if I can.

Hi easyrider! Yes, I have to pay the all inclusive fee when I am there, but it pretty much pays for itself as I eat and drink a lot and if I had to pay out of pocket it would be more than the daily rate. Last time I was there it was $99 per day.

Hi @easyrider and @pvbound
From what I have read there were some older Velas -PV Marina contracts that were AI optional [they may be mostly expired ]

There are also some full ownership units in Velas - PV Marina.
One of the Marina real estate offices has monthly rentals posted.
I recall listing of ~ $ 4K plus for a 1 bedroom 2 or 3 years ago.

We have thought about full ownership in Mexico but have too many family commitments at home. We know people that have bought in Bucerias, Puerto Vallarta, La Paz and Ajijjic. The only people we know living full time in Mexico live in Ajijjic because of their immigration status of permanent resident. I kind of need to check out Ajijjic one of these years. Supposedly, the weather is nice all year.
