Can anyone recommend some "supplies" that I should bring to VDP Flamingos in Nuevo Vallarta? Do they supply dish/dishwasher soap, coffee filters - things like that?
We've found that each resort is different and sometimes its just easier to bring some smaller items from home than to purchase there.
Thanks - leaving next week and super excited! :D

  • Sunglasses
  • Sun screen
  • Beer can kozys
  • flip flops
  • ...

Sorry...just kidding, you know those things...here's the serious stuff - We bring:
  • Sunglasses
  • Sun screen
  • Beer can kozys
  • flip flops
    ;)
  • Coffee filters (Mr Coffee style)
  • Coffee - We like good coffee
  • Binoculars
  • Laundry detergent
  • Power strip (if you have a lot of electronics to re-charge, there is not an over abundance of available outlets)
  • Pillows – if you’re partial to a certain type. Resort pillows are big foam pillows - bad for my neck.
  • Don’t bother with a cooler unless you are planning a day trip. You can’t use by pool/beach unless you hide really well.
  • Cash - tip money.

Say hi to Jorge for me.

Safe travels

bbb

Be sure to bring dishwasher soap. We forgot on our recent trip and had to pay 50 cents per packet (comparable to one Electrosol powerball) at VDPF market. We tried Wal-mart & Mega and the pickings were slim & even more expensive. We bought what we thought was the right thing--even checked with one of the English-speaking helpers at Mega. Followed his instructions and ended up with overflow of suds all over the kitchen. Come to find out we had purchased not dishwasher soap but dishwashing soap! Maybe that was his little joke since we didn't book a timeshare tour thru him.:D

We bring a soft side cooler and place frozen steaks, cheese, and deli meat in it. We also bring coffee, filters, hot sauce, mayo and tartar sauce in our checked bag. There is no tartar sauce in Mexico and most mayo has lime flavoring in it in Mexico. You can buy the rest of the stuff when you get there.

Night fishing is good in front of Flamigos so I always take a travel rod and gear. Steel leader is needed to reel in morey eel and shark.

We buy liquor at the duty free.

How are you able to bring in steaks?????????????????

I had hot dogs taken from me because they had some beef in them. I was really mad. They let me bring in a large ham, though. Pork, no beef.

thanks for the helpful advice! Does anyone know if hairdryers are provided?
