We are doing an RCI exchange to Vanderbilt Beach and Harbour Club. Their website says King and Twin beds; does anyone know if you can request the twin beds to be pushed together?
I am hoping the construction is finished by Aug since that seems to be a major complaint from reviews.
Any advice about the resort is appreciated.

We've stayed at this resort several times and really like it. Sorry I don't remember whether or not the twin beds could be pushed together. The resort should be able to answer your question.

Are you aware that the resort has two buildings? One is on the beach side and the other is across the street on the harbor side. The RCI or the resort should be able to tell you which building and unit your reservation is for. Changing buildings or units might be an option but I'd guess that's something they wouldn't be able to do until close to the check in date.

If you haven't already purchased points protection for this reservation then I strongly suggest you do so. I'd also buy trip insurance if you're flying and renting a car. The past several years the west coast of Florida has been hit hard with red tides during the summer months. It's really not healthy to breathe and the stench from the marine life kill it causes is awful. Red tides can linger, clear up in a few days or suddenly appear. August and September in Florida are the two worst months for heat and humidity. Expect rain at some point most days because August is one of the rainiest months. If you haven't experienced a Florida sun shower. you likely will. It can suddenly downpour for a few minutes while the sun is shining. If you're coming in later August tropical depression storms and hurricanes are a bigger concern than in early August.

All that being said I wouldn't necessarily walk away from your reservation. This is a hope for the best and prepare for the worst situation. We've lived on the east coast of Florida not far from Pompano Beach and Fort Lauderdale for 11 years. It's a good idea to keep small umbrellas handy if you're going anywhere. Flip flops are your friends, lol. When it downpours your shoes and socks will get soaked even if you have an umbrella. There's plenty of advance warning for big storm systems. We put the Max Tracker app on our phones and find the European model projections to be the most accurate. Online you can find websites that track the red tides. If in the few days before your reservation begins it looks like the Naples area is experiencing a red tide I'd call the resort to ask them for an update. Vanderbilt Beach is "the" area in Naples so I'm sure they'll be prompt in getting the beach cleaned up if there has been a marine life kill in the area. Florida sun showers are kind of neat and you'll likely see some beautiful rainbows.

We really like the Naples area and the location of the resort. Our must restaurants are The Watermark and Mr. Big Fish. You can find deals for restaurants and things to do in Naples on Groupon, Living Social and Travelzoo.

I own here, and their is a night stand in between the twin beds, so you could move that and push the beds together, but they will not do it for you, I asked on my last trip there in December.

The construction is completely finished on the gulf side, the bay side is supposed to be completed by this July... They are behind schedule because they have been waiting on materials. They were putting in all new windows on the bay side when I was there in December.

This is the top favorite resort that I own. I love having the beach access, the people are all amazing here. They have free bikes to rent and we do that each year and ride up to Fit and Fuel one of our favorite places to grab breakfast or lunch. You can rent a pontoon boat onsite, for cheaper then you can elsewhere. This is truly my happy place. I scored last year and was able to buy a foreclosed unit for $1,800 in the same unit that I own another week, so now I get 2 weeks each December in my happy place in the same unit...

I'll second Sugarcubesea in saying that the staff at Vanderbilt Beach Club is fantastic. It's a very well run resort. In my first post I should have said that I wouldn't turn down a stay there if I found out the unit I booked was on the harbor side.

The Turtle Club is next to or very close to the resort. We had a very nice lunch there. We also did a sunset cruise on the Naples Princess. There are other boats in Tin City in Naples that do cruises too. You'll want to check out the restaurants on Fifth Ave. in downtown Naples.

I was so happy to get that extra week for that price, I had trying buying in here for quite a bit of time and many of the owners have gotten their weeks from their parents when they passed, no one seems to sell. I think they get units back when people die, I know the foreclosed unit I purchased was one that was given back when both the parents died..
