I just returned from a week in Breckenridge and thought you might appreciate a short update. My last visit was in August, and a significant change we noticed immediately upon our arrival was that Valdoro essentially has a new staff. While turnover at resorts is to be expected, we were surprised at the number of new faces that we saw. For me personally, the biggest loss was Todd at the concierge desk. He always seemed to know what was going on outdoors, from skiing trails, hiking trails to biking trails. We asked for a forwarding address to send to him a Christmas card but did not receive one. We also sensed that there are fewer people working. As an owner, perhaps I should be glad.
There was no owners meeting or foreclosure sale opportunity meeting although foreclosures are still being marketed by a new staff member, Duncan.
The Alpine ski shop area seems to be doing quite well.

The temperatures were very nice for outdoor activities but there is a shortage of new snow. There was enough snow, for instance, for the Dew– Nike snowboarding competitions but only because snow is being made on a daily basis. The Nordic center is open for cross-country skiing but the 40° plus day they sustained Sunday did not help. I would imagine that a number of the downhill runs are not open at this point. I was able to get into some areas this year without snowshoes while last year the snow from knee to waist deep. Because of the long range forecast this season for low precipitation, many locals are worried.

With the exception of a mediocre meal at Mi Casa, we enjoyed our evening meals out. Hearthstone remains our favorite and we returned to South Ridge Seafood for an excellent meal. Rather than continue to grumble about the demise of the Alpine Café and their tapas bar, we did try the bar food during euphoria hour at Ember and came away as new customers! Yes, Glen is gone but Todd took good care of our group. Hopefully, we will get to know him better over the next decade.

We always enjoy the crowd and service at the Brek Brewery.
We ventured up to Frisco for dinner at the Food Hedz World Cafe and were not disappointed. Despite its location in a strip mall with Walmart, the food was excellent and the staff was attentive and kind.

To help burn off some of those well earned calories, we did some swimming in the new pool. I am pleased to report that the pool and all three of the hot tubs are open. I would estimate that the pool temperature is about 80°.
If you have any specific questions, please let me know.

Questions about Valdoro

We are regular visitors to Valdoro with our Hilton points and love it. We are considering a resale and thinking about a winter float. Do you have a fixed week or a winter floating week? If you have a winter floating week what has been your experience?

Also, we will be there in March and might be interested in a foreclosure. Did you learn anything about what they might have available in that regard?

Any help is appreciated. As I said, we love Valdoro. Kind of sad to learn of such a big change in staff.

Thanks

We received a notice that the sales office at Valdoro was closing in December.

We have a fixed ski week and a floating spring – summer – fall week.
There are some foreclosures available. Although the two women that have marketing foreclosures the past several years are gone, contact Duncan via the front desk if you are interested. (Duncan appears to have additional responsibilities at the resort).

You might also called Jan at Jovan Realty in Breckenridge, who has a number of listings, including several fixed ski weeks.

Jan is who I purchased from. Great to work with and by far the best selection.
