What is the difference between Vail
Streamside Cedar, Birch, Aspen, Douglas and Evergreen?

They are 5 very different buildings at the single resort in Vail. 3 are still with Marriott and 2 left Marriott a couple years ago, when Marriott said you have to make significant up grades to the buildings to remain with marriott.

They all share the same common area and shuttle service. We stayed at the cedar building this January. There is no elevator. You have to climb lots of stairs to get to the building too. If I remember right, Douglas has parking garage.

From what I recall, Evergreen, Douglas, and Birch all made the upgrades requested by Marriott and remain with Marriott. Cedar made the upgrades, but Marriott gave them the boot for some reason. Aspen told Marriott to take a hike, saying the cost to stay a Marriott was not worth it to a majority of owners, but then had some substantial special assessments.

Each building has its own HOA, but they share common facilities like the pool.

I've never stayed at Streamside but heard that Evergreen is by far the nicest of any of the buildings. I think it's the only one that was built by Marriott.

Evergreen building was the only one purpose built by Marriott. The insides of it are configured like any other Marriott two bedroom. Birch and Douglas were acquired by Marriott.

We stayed in a one bedroom in Birch two years back. It was a strangely configured unit, but the one bedroom held two queen beds and a the living room had a pullout sofa, so it worked great for packing people into it. When we were there, they were upgrading the common building that held the pool, gym, MAZE, check-in desk, etc.

We go to ski and are gone from the unit all day anyway. Even though I wasn't crazy about the resort as a whole, I'd accept it again, as there are not many timeshares available in the Vail Valley.

Aspen and Cedar are managed by Vacation Resorts Internationale. More info at:

All of the five buildings share the same clubhouse and free shuttle that goes into town and to the lifts.
