Hello everyone
I have just joined last month as we are considering selling our timeshare.
We have been getting a lot of calls from people in the US saying they have a buyer and are we interested in selling. I read with interest about paying upfront fees. Each time, they call I ask the same question. They answer that it is not the same as selling a home and they do things differently. This is not to list our unit. This is the costs of doing the transaction. Contract, searches, etc. The last call we got was from a company called Vacations Direct USA located in Lake Mary, Florida. Has anybody heard of them? Are they legit? They are asking for $1,295.00 for costs of doing the transaction. They say they are a finance company making the arrangements for their client who is the in process of being approved for the finances. They do not make a money on the sale, but they make their money on the financing.
I would very much like to hear from you about this. Many thanks

Its a scam. Legitimate brokers take a commission from the proceeds of a sale.
They do not have a buyer. They will take your money, their mysterious buyer will disappear, and then, so will your money. Next time, offer to let them have 2x that amount (the customary amount is 1/3 of what they asked)... to be paid from the buyer's money. They can send the difference to you (or your attorney). It ain't gonn'a happen.

If you really want proof that they are scammers, offer them double their fee but you will use a closing company of your choosing and expense, all they need to do is forward their client's payment to your closing company - I guarantee they will not be interested.
