Just received an email from our concierge at a resort we'll be staying at next week. She invited us to meet with a vacation counselor during our stay. We are already owners and this is our first stay since purchasing and she's offered us gifts to sit through their 60 minute presentation. What is this about? Are they going to try and get us to buy into more points? We just want to relax and have a fun vacation...but a nice $100 gift card would be nice too. Any suggestions or experiences to share?

Thanks,

Chris

"Are they going to try and get us to buy into more points?" -- Eggsactly.
It's nothing more than sales pitch. Go for it, only if you want to have your ears boxed for 2 hours.

Depends on how much you value your time. Two of you for $100 = $50/hr... IF it is only a 60 min presentation.
I have done it. Probably won't do it again. Rather earn the $100 at work.
IF you do it, thank them UP FRONT for spending 60 min with you and inform them that you WILL be leaving in 60 min. You have another appointment...You know the salesmen is busy and don't want to take up too much of their time. That sort of thing. Always friendly. Set an alarm with Siri for 50 min in the salesmen's presence. At 50 min, ask them for your gift, since, after all, need to leave in 10 min and a deal is a deal.
Then have a cup of coffee and a nice conversation.
IF you loose control, ask if it is OK if you record the conversation. That is really a conversation stopper. Always friendly though.

Better - Do what I suggested above and have a TUG t-shirt UNDER your aloha shirt. IF things get out of hand, open your shirt! Sort of a Superman type thing.

Be sure to have a bath towel cape ... "gifted" at the speed of light. An MP3 sound bite would truly set the entire (sales) room on end ... and YOU all out the door.
