Using MVC points in Paris

Looking to use MVC points (not via converting to Bonvoy as you can’t convert those more than 3 months into use year right?) to stay in Paris. We saw Villas of Distinction through the explorer collection, but that has a one week minimum. When we called they said that was firm for the dates we’re looking at. Any ideas? Thanks!

.

Go to www.VacationPointExchange.com

Assuming you are unable to rent points yourself then you could see if someone is willing to make the points reservation for you..... You will have to determine whether you plan to travel in 2022 or 2023 and get points (or a reservation) for the year in which you plan to travel.

Welcome to TUG and best of luck.

We have the points to use we just aren’t sure if it is possible to use them to stay in Paris instead of at the resort by Disneyland.

I'm not aware of any other options. Hotels and Luxury Residences does not have any options in France that were listed. You could rent and use the proceeds. I haven't traded for Bonvoy points and don't see the value of doing so. Never did BTW, even when it was a somewhat better program in the 90's. I think you can only trade trust points for Bonvoy points, not enrolled points though. You might be able to trade the underlying weeks before electing points if applicable but I haven't looked at that option in ages.

Also no options through II, right? I know I read on here something about using ThirdHome, does MVC still have that as an option as I don’t see it on the site?

Marriott Vacation Club used to have ThirdHome in their Destination Points program but it is no longer there.

It went away around the time Covid hit. There are II options listed but they will be a week as well in all likelihood and very unlikely to be available. I see no exchanges in the system for the next year. There are getaway options in France less than 7 days but they are 6 days and not very appealing looking on first glance.

It’s easy & fairly economical to take the train from MVC Paris/Disney into Paris- but takes an hour each way.

Yeah I think the one hour each way is the deal breaker. It’s crazy how they have so many Marriotts in Paris but none in the explorer program. I’d think it’d be a popular destination.

We didn’t mind it- we found it replacing.
I’m not sure I would use my DC points for a hotel, we have lots on bonvoys and we used those to spend 3 nights in Paris combined with our MVC stay.
Ive had friends and also family go to Europe this summer and they both used VRBO.
Hope you work it out and have a great trip.

I would totally do Airbnb in Paris-that’s what we have mostly used in Europe and they’ve been fabulous and much nicer to have larger accommodations than a hotel.
