Using CC to pay MFs

There are posts where people get rewards by using their branded cards with that brand timeshare (like AmEx Hilton @ HGVC) and they get higher rewards. My question are other cards. For instance, if I used my AmEx Delta Skymiles Platinum to pay MFs at DVC (which I don't have but using as an example), would that post as a hotel?

Even though I work at Walt Disney World, we don't get DVC discounts (small discount if I rented a suite like a non-DVC member) and I wouldn't mind buying into the program in the future.

The best credit card for paying all MF's, no matter where you own, is Chase Sapphire Reserve, but it's not a cheap card. You would have to look at the other benefits to decide if it would work for you. $1,000 MF's post as 3,000 points, and then that is multiplied by 1.5X. That becomes $45.00 toward travel when booked through Chase.

That may be good for many, but if you own a HGVC and pay w/ their best Amex, you get 14 points per dollar. So for a $1,000 MF, you would get 14K Hilton Honors points which is worth more than $45.

Yes, DVC MFs do code as Travel - we've used different Chase CC in the past and received points for them.

And did you know that Disney CMs get discounts on buying into DVC? I'm not sure how much it is, but I gather that it's worthwhile, so you might want to inquire.

I use my Marriott to pay Marriott, but only when I get bonuses for paying. The points are not worth much.

I have the Hilton Aspire but no Hilton timeshares. Maybe I should buy Hilton to use that card better. Sounds kind of backwards.

Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort sent a letter out Dated Nov 30/23 stating owners of week 1 to 8 had to pay their maintenance fees by January 1st and must be in the form of a cheque.

The resort is dropping Capital management company as of December 31/23

The Chase Hyatt credit card would pay 4 points per $1 on maintenance fees, however, (as of right now) the new credit card processor is coding the charge as timeshare so Chase is refusing to give 4x points. Hopefully it gets worked out.

If Chase starts to do 4x again, that is 4000 points on $1000, at two cents a point worth apx $80.

I second this. In addition to a value of 4.5% towards travel when booked through Chase, it has a variety of airline partners that transfer usually 1 point to 1 mile for greater potential to maximize value of the 3x points
