Thanks to help in other threads we are on a Rick Steves' tour Paris to Nice next week. I've made some reservations through Viator for tours in Paris. Now I'm looking at the rest of the route since Rakuten has 10x bonus on Viator today.

Our stops after Paris are:

Amboise in the Loire Valley, Lyon, Annecy, Avignon (possible day trip to Arles) and ends in Nice. We then go to Geneva for 3 nights before flying home.

This is a My Way tour which means your rooms and transportation from town to town are included but you are on your own during the day. There is a tour operator and our last one was terrific with suggestions and how to book transportation. I'm looking here to see what Viator has to offer.

Any suggestions for tours, bikes, kayaking, food tours, walking tours, etc. would be appreciated.

Sounds amazing! Since you are on your own during that day, I would add a day trip from Annecy to Chamonix. It's 1.5 in the car, slightly longer via train.

We just booked 3 weeks in May of next year. Starting with a week in Nice, a week in Paris (French Open) and one more at Village d'ile-de-France. Excited!

Look into a day trip from Nice to Eze, which is a small mountain town overlooking Villefranche. You can include Monaco and Monte Carlo as well if you are interested in that. We haven’t been to these places yet, but we will be in the area on a cruise next year.

When in Amboise, you should visit the chateaux in Amboise and Chenonceaux; the latter is just a few kilometers from Amboise and is one of the best.

Fun fact: Leonardo da Vinci is buried in the chateau of Amboise.

Thank you. We stayed in Chamonix on an Alps trip in June.

Thank you. We had 5 nights in Monaco back in the grand days of travel packages (miles + room). We didn't rent a car until the end of the trip and then drove to Provence. On the way we went to Eze and several other hilltop villages. They were fun and lovely.
