Understanding BlueGreen resale purchase

I have a question. I have considered buying a bluegreen resort a couple of times. One is the Trillium in Cashiers NC, and the other is the one in Savannah. But I don't know all of the details on how the points work, and how easy is it to get into places you want to be and when you want to be there. For example, I saw a 15K resale for $1. It is in one of the places above that I like to visit. So, if I get that, is there a booking window for booking at for the resort I bought at vs any other bluegreen resorts? Can you book just a weekend or is there a limit to 3 days as the lowest number of nights you can book with your points? Is there any kind of season like platimun, gold, silver that restricts anything? Also since they got bought out by Hilton, I assume that everything is still the same, and that the points you could use for BlueGreen resorts but you couldn't use the points at Hilton Vacation Club properties? And are all BlueGreen resorts created equally in that if I got points at the Trillium location I could use the points based on availalbility to any other BlueGreen resort? I know this is a lot, so if anyone has a good website that explains it that will work as well, if you attach it. Thank you!

I think resale BlueGreen in most cases, except for maybe 3 resorts, cannot use the points at any resort but the one they bought at. Resale at Bluegreen, Diamond, HGVC and Embarc don't cross over at all from what I can tell. Retail at Diamond (HVC), HGVC can use Max to exchange at 6 months, but there's likely tiny amounts of availability that late along.

Personally, I would not buy BlueGreen resale, so would not buy it at all. Same for Diamond / HVC. The limits are too onerous.

here are some good posts on bluegreen resales

and if you want full developer priviledges on the resale market you can always buy from pinnacle which is still far cheaper than retail!

Generally, BG points deeds have an underlying Priority Use Period for a specific week in a specific unit. You have up to 11 months prior to let BG know that you will exercise the PUP. If you do, you will be reserved for that exact full week in that exact unit.

If you don't specifically exercise PUP by 11 months out, or if you book ANYTHING else (different # of nights, different week, or different resort), you relinquish the PUP, and receive the corresponding points. You can then use your points to book within 11 months of check-in anywhere in the BG system where other owners relinquished their PUPs. Depending on how popular the resort and/or season is, it can be practically impossible or fairly easy to find availability.

I don’t believe this is true for bluegreen
bonus time is only available at home resort for resale, but vacation club points can be used anywhere
some resorts requi more points

Resale points are just like any other points except for two small things. they don't count towards the premium member benefits (which are fairly useless anyway). Also, if you only own resale points, you can only purchase bonus time at the resort you are deeded at. if you own any amount of charter points though, you have full bonus time availability at all BG resorts. Resale points are not limited in any other way, and frankly, after buying a bare minimum of charter points, there is no reason to ever own anything but resale points as they are so much cheaper.
As for booking their are some BG associate resorts that require full week bookings. But that applies to everyone, doesn't matter if the points are resale. and all Points have an underlying resort, specific week, and unit. This is your PUP (Priority Use Period) You can exercise the right to use all of your points for a year to use that particular unit at that time 13 months ahead of time, instead of trying to book with points 11 months out. Just a note--some deeds have a PUP that is only for a partial week--it may be just weekdays, or A Friday through Sunday weekend. This is noted by a code by the unit on the contract, and be sure to find out what that code is and means before purchasing.
