Anyone have a built-in under counter beverage cooler? If so, do you like it? Would like to hear any comments and/or recommendations.

We are contemplating adding one as part of our minor kitchen overhaul.

We have three -- a wine fridge and a regular fridge in our bar, and another under-counter fridge in the theater room. The two fridges are GE, and have been very pleased with them.

Whatever you get, just make sure that it is specifically designed to be installed under a counter. Other coolers that may fit under a counter but are not designed for it have their cooling coils on the back, and require air circulation or they will overheat. Check for the minimum clearance space before you build any cabinet around it.

Right, it has to be front vented. If I go this route, I will buy the unit and have it on site before I have any cabinetry modified.

Would you happen to know the model of the GE refrigerators?

just finished a major kitchen renovation. To supplement the big Subzero, we too added a 15-inch wide Beverage Center, which is "under-counter/built-in".

here's the link to the one we purchased online. We looked at many brands, in stores and online, and this was moderately priced, and we got a good deal (much higher elsewhere), with free shipping.

Came down to two models......the Summit, and a Vinotemp, which also would have been great. (didn't want to put $1800 into a Viking.)

There are specials running everywhere online, so do your due diligence to find a maker & model you're comfortable with. We considered more expensive ones, even really cheap ones, but settled on the Summit model shown, which happens to be a really nice one, and has good reviews.

It's great so far....been using it a month now, and it feels very solid....heavy doors which look and feel like a high-end model should. The door can be adjusted in-house/on-site to open in either direction. It stores everything we need. Basically there's a hole from floor to undercounter, and you just place it under counter and plug it in. Has adjustable feet. nothing difficult at all.

there are wider models available if you need them. Bottom line, we love it...adds a lot to kitchen, and is soooo convenient.
