Hello, I am a UK citizen, who owns HVC/DRI points, but have not used them for many years due to rising costs. I applied for the Transitions programme earlier this year and have been accepted and received the forms. I am struggling with the requirement to get a US Public Notary to sign the forms, as being in the UK I can only find UK Notaries.

Is there anyone else on here who has come up against this issue. I only have 30 days to complete and return the forms to the US, so very tight and the US embassy in London has no appointments in this timeframe.

Does anyone know how strict they are about the 30 day time frame?

Can't you use an online US Public Notary? I did this recently. I am a US citizen and also live in the USA, so I don't know if that would make a difference. I used US Virtual Notary. Looking at their website, I see an International Notarization option (for signer located outside of the US).

I did ask HVC if they would accept an e-signature but they require wet-ink signature which makes is very difficult.

Wow, that is terrible. What about the US Embassy? I think that would also work.

Did you use the US Virtual Notary for the Transitions paperwork? And if so did HVC accept it? Yes trying US Embassy but no appointments until past the 30 days - and you can't just walk in.

I think to use a virtual US notary you have to be a US national living abroad or you reside in the USA. I think the best option is a US embassy or consulate. Is there other consulates available with appointments? Perhaps a train ride to Paris?

No, selling HGVC deed. The deed needed to be notarized and I was too lazy to drive to a bank.

Thanks both - I will continue my search, just feel very pressured as it feel like my only chance to get out of this, and that HVC will take me to court if I do anything incorrectly (but they make it difficult).

but they make it difficult
I agree, it shouldn't be this difficult. I hope that you find a solution. Maybe an international member (hint, hint) will be able to advise.

I have a friend in a Canada who used an online notary to transfer her Marriott timeshare. I will ask her to weigh in

I am Canadian and used a US Virtual Notary to transfer a number of timeshares, including Marriott. The service was easy, and efficient. I see no reason why it would not be recognized by HVC. I did submit the original signed copies to the closing company.

Could you give the name of the company/website that you used? This would likely help @JBowie11 to proceed with their closing.
