Went to finish up and had to download updates and it froze. Now my Mac says I can't access the application because it's damaged. I have been trying to find a phone number to reach Turbo Tax. Any help appreciated.

serious ungood...

but your return is saved and reinstalling is the correct answer. Once reinstalled, your return should still be there waiting for you.

A defective installation of the updates is likely the culprit.
I'd try reinstalling the original program from your source.
You may need to save your data elsewhere, uninstall, then reinstall.

We've used both Turbo Tax & Tax Act online, and don't have it on our 'puters.

I have used Turbo Tax for over 10 years and gave up buying the discs 3 or 4 years ago. My reason for doing so is to avoid the "update" downloads and to have my data stored on Turbo Tax's computers (at least that is where I think it is stored).

Turbo Tax doesn't require you to download updates. During the setup for installation you can opt to have it ask if you want to check for updates. If you say no, no download takes place.

I got a code to download the 2011 federal tax free from turbo tax earlier in the yr but need to pay $40 to get the state tax done. My brother helped me to download the state form after paying $40 but he did it on the new laptop but I already did the federal tax on the old laptop. How do I get the paid state form from the new computer to the old computer? I really don't want to waste a few hours and put in all the info again for the federal tax on the new computer. As you can tell, I am not computer savvy. Help!

Is there a number you can call? The online help is no help. I have a 1098T, which my Turbo Tax Deluxe does not know what to do with. The online help states to enter 1099-Q in the search box. Nothing comes up. Turbo Tax is getting worse each year. Last year my Turbo Tax Deluxe showed no net income; however a CPA friend looked at my tax return and told me that I do have net income. After going around and around with them on the phone they finally let me download the Premier edition; they did have a number to call last year. I cannot find any number to call this year.

This is the TurboTax Contact Page. Once you've selected an issue, you have the option of calling. But they don't just give out the number--you must provide a little information first; I guess to verify that you're a registered user.

I found the Chat feature to be very helpful. This was my first year doing my own taxes and the folks who answered all of my tax questions were both informative and efficient. A chat also gives you the opportunity to copy it into a file for later reference. There is a chat for tax help and one for how to use Turbo Tax.

Turbo Tax is getting worse each year.

I think part of it is that the tax code gets more complicated year after year. My relatively simple return was 18 pages this year!! I know if I did my taxes without Turbo Tax (or one of their online competiors) my return would be a disaster.

Ive used turbo tax for years. I agree that it has gone downhill.

I thought I knew alot about taxes. For years my husband and I had full time jobs, worked real estate on the side and had 4 rental properties. I always did our own taxes.

My cpa son owns a number of Jackson Hewitt Tax Services and I helped him out during the rush for a couple of weeks. I was surprised at how much I didnt know. This year, I did my taxes on turbo tax and then went down and did the taxes again at JH. Checked all my figures to see why the difference. Saved more money from JH. It might pay to go to a CPA or Tax service for one year. Pay attention to what they are doing and ask questions. Some of the people I did taxes for I would spend the extra time explaining and teaching them what to look for. I have a gripe with the government. If they were as careful with my money as I am then I wouldnt be so nitpicky cheap about giving it to them. I feel good when I helped others.

I found that with Turbo tax its not hard to go down a wrong road just because you didnt read a question quite right.

We probably could have used a CPA this year, but it other years, it cut into our refund too much. I'm used to Turbo Tax, but it has serious glitches. Finally got it working OK (thanks for the suggestions to reinstall) and filed.
