Hello - Looking for thoughts from those who moved to MAX and those who did not.

We are a plat owner of Legacy Diamond with 51,500 points (mostly resale but grandfathered into Club many, many years ago).
We have said NO to MAX and never thought we would change our minds.

We are at the Flamingo Beach Resort in Sint Maarten and were offered the following.

Buy 2,500 points at $3.50 per point. To become Premier+ and get MAX. They threw in 11,500 Bonus Points.

The reasons we did it were we liked some of the new Bluegreen locations, Hilton Diamond status and some of the other perks that come
with Premier +. We were also told Premier Plus would be moved to 75,000 points (likely not true).

I've thought about buying into HGVC in Vegas but thought we have a lot of points already why not try to use them at other resorts using MAX.
We do make good use of our points currently - although maintenance fees are high my average nightly costs are approx. $100.

I'm having big time second thoughts and worried about losing inventory that I currently have access to with Diamond Legacy.

I'm hoping Tuggers might have some thoughts?
Thanks!

For me, that is an expensive 2,500 points and probably has a high MF/pt but if it gets you want out of the program, not a terrible deal. If you would have been staying at a HGVC property, they probably would have pitched a HGVC deed that may have done the same thing but you would have had the HGVC reservation window, for the HGVC points. That is neither here nor there now, since you bought it, but an option.

We are HGVC, not in The Club but since you are in The Club, don't you have access to DEX? I suspect that Blue Green properties will be added to DEX so you could have had access to them without getting into Max but, if you want the Max perks, then the only route is the one that you took.

When you are Legacy Platinum DRI you lose a lot of Bennies from this if you buy into MAX. Also MAX does not transfer upon resell. So you give up all Bennies of Legacy Platinum DRI and can not transfer MAX.

When we were at Grand Pacific Palisades Carlsbad this Spring we attend a Sales Pitch at Marbrisa. We kept telling the Salesman we were not interested in MAX but we might be interested in a Deeded Week in HGVC that did not involve MAX. He thought we did not know what we were talking about. But he went to the Sales Manager to get a package that did not involve MAX. It turns out his Sales Manager was formerly a Sales Manager for DRI and was able to look up our DRI Account. The Sales Manager told the Salesman (who told us) that we should NEVER buy into MAX as we would give up all the Bennies and good points about our DRI Account. That we were correct if we wanted access to HGVC we should simply buy a HGVC Deed.

Also 2.5 years ago we were able to Exchange Worldmark Credits through RCI into the Bay Club 13 months in advance. Our stay at Grand Pacific Palisades was with our DRI Points through DEX.

DO NOT WALK RUN FROM MAX. If you are still within your days to cancel then cancel this transaction.

An honest salesperson, refreshing.

we have max from the hgvc side. I don't think it was a good decision, to buy in.

cancel if you can, imo.

Is the Flamingo Beach Resort still in good shape and are you enjoying your vacation?

With all the negative thoughts, cancel. You can buy Bluegreen points very cheaply resale and you won’t lose anything you already have.

Thank you everyone for the advice. Will cancel. Resort is in great shape and having a nice time pedro 47!

Look in your materials to send to the office listed for cancellations--it is not always the sales office. Make sure to put your cancellation in writing (signed by everyone who purchased) and mail it with receipt of service. Just telling them you're cancelling is not sufficient. If you decide to take the letter to the office yourself, make sure to get a receipt from them.

Both HGV Flamingo and HGV Royal Palm suffered significant damage from Hurricane Irma in September 2017. They were completely shut down, mostly gutted, rebuilt, and reequipped. Flamingo reopened in 2020 and Royal Palm in early 2021. I stayed at Royal Palm six months ago and was in Flamingo about 18 months ago. They both look fabulous. They seem to be getting great reviews, too.

grats on saving 9 grand!

We just had a Hilton salesman at Poipu Point tell us we will keep losing access to the resort if we don’t join max for 10k to buy 2000 points. Theiir system is going to mean less inventory for us. We were also told they will put us in the least desirable buildings. Right now we have a view of a construction site with partial ocean behind it.

They are going to tell you anything to make a sale... ignore them

An honest former Sales Manager from DRi., now that is freshen.

I have HGVC Elite and bought a resale at HGVC Parc Soleil and when it got added to my account all of a sudden I had MAX. Did not pay much for the resale, around $600 including closing, and don't know how this happened, but it was free so I don't complain. If it disappears some day, no big deal since I generally only stay at HGVC properties.
