TUG banned from ARDA resale discussion forum in Vegas: overturned!

So, the entire reason I came out here was to attend the discussion forum session about the resale market. This discussion is specifically to discuss arda's new "model resale act" they are presenting to the lawmakers as a guideline to enact and enforce new laws regarding timeshare resellers.

From what I have seen to this point, everything (or at least the most useful parts) of this resale act that really would target the problems in the industry today...have been removed completely from the final draft.

However, I specifically have been told I am not permitted to attend as it will prohibit the free discussion of the topic if individuals know that TUG is present.

I am extremely disappointed at this to say the least, especially since I was invited to attend the convention by ARDA, and TUG was invited to become a member of ARDA on a complimentary basis.

I am at a loss for why the above exists, if they continually choose to exclude TUG from any sort of items that actually impact consumers.

I am appealing this decision as we speak as the session isnt until 2pm pt this afternoon, but things arent looking good.

despite this, there are some 20 odd individuals who ARE attending the forum who have no issues relaying the information within the meeting for us after its over, so its not like itll be a secret anyway...I just really dont understand this decision at all.

Ill also write up a summary of all the items that were excluded from the "model resale act" that were originally put in...I feel you will be amazed (or not...depending on your opinion on the industry as a whole)

ARDA's actions tell me that they think TUG is doing for timeshare owners exactly what it is intended to do, and that scares them.

The only way I can think to spin this positive is to consider how significant TUG's influence and reputation has grown. Clearly ARDA and the developers understand the potential impact of that influence. For that alone you are to be applauded.

Banning you from the resale discussion ? ? ? Maybe they aren't ready to hear the reality of the strong voice TUG represents on this particular subject? Cowardly perhaps?

Prohibiting free discussion? Gee, Brian, you don't come across as the strong arm type - LOL!!

Take it as a compliment that TUG has evolved into a larger fish in the timeshare pond.

Is it that the whole process is simply lip service to the resale market? I can't believe the ARDA cares a wit about the resale market, other than back room discussions between some of the big boys about how the advent of Ebay and the recession is impacting their bottom line. So I suspect they're just not that interested in really protecting consumers or effecting change - if they were, they'd be welcoming the "on the ground" expertise of TUG generally and yourself specifically. This is just my speculation on why they're not interested in hearing anything from somebody who knows what they're talking about.

I know you will tell us how that came out. The result will substantially influence my desire to support ARDA with the $5 annual assessment it requests for each of my timeshares. "Taxation without representation is tyranny."

Just recieved a phone call and apparently the decision to ban TUG from the meeting has been "overruled"

I have been given permission to attend the meeting as of 12:18pm pacific time (meeting is at 2pm).
