Hi everyone,

Aside from Wyndham (which I have) -- are there other mini-timeshare systems in the Central region? IL, IO, IN, MI, WI, MN (northern central?)

I just booked a 3night stay at Wisconsin Dells (by the time my transfer completed, there were no more availability at Glacier Canyon), and it cost me ~$1K for a 1 BR Suire (will fit 6 people).

We do a lot of 4 day weekends (Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Columbus Day) etc and are trying to figure out if 8-9 hours is too much of a drive or not. TN and Branson are closer to 9 hours.

I was hoping to get more options in the 5-6 hour driving range (I think Nashville and Wisconsin Dells are the ones covered by Wyndham).

When looking at RCI, I do see some exchanges in Door County or in the Michigan and Minnesota areas -- just curious if these are mini systems or not. Problem with RCI is that its normally for 7 days with F, Sa or S checkins and we normally do F-M or Th-S.

bluegreen has timeshares in Wisconsin Dells, and Shell Vacation Club is in Door County. i know that Little Sweden, or something similar has one resort in partial weeks, and one in weeks.

Thanks Rap! I did look at Bluegreen, but compared to Wyndham, I chose Wyndham (better resorts). I see a bunch of them in RCI (Little Sweden being one of the highly rated ones), so curious if they're in a mini-system. Shell was just recently purchased by Wyndham, so I am hoping soon, we owners will have access to them.

Or, if my options were just really to do RCI exchanges for these or pay cash.

My only issue with the RCI trades are they only come in weeks, and for these (since these are driving distance from Chicago) are normally just weekend/long weekend trips for us, not week long trips.

Silverleaf

There is another small system with several resorts in the Midwest. Silverleaf has one resort in Illinois and three in Missouri (two in the Branson area) and one near St. Louis.

They also have 4 resorts in Texas, one in Georgia, one in Mass, and one in Florida (Orlando area).

There are basically two kinds of units, the lodge units (think hunting lodge décor) and presidential units which are nicer and have laundry facilities in the units). If you get a 6/4 exchange that is a lodge and if you get a 6/6 exchange that is a presidential and you will probably like it a lot better.

We owned Silverleaf for about 12 years and really liked the resorts.

Thanks puppymommo! Wyndham also has 1 IL (Galena) and a couple in MO and TX. I was hoping more northern part. Is it that people normally flock South to vacation that there are no TS's north? :)

I'm hoping to round out my TS list between DVC, Wyndham and a last one that will give me access to MidNorth if you will...

Is there anything to do near the Silverleaf in Illinois, Sheridan seems so out of the way.

Depends how far you want to drive. It IS out of the way. I live in the Chicago suburbs and it's an hour away from me. So, its probably targetted for out of towners who want a TS place around Chicagoland.

Closest I can see close to it is Utica around ~30 mins. You can go to Starved Rock State Park for hiking and/or sight seeing/nature trip, and Grand Bear Lodge (for an indoor water park) -- we've stayed here.

Also ~30 mins away is Raging Waters Water Park in Yorkville.

Outside of those two - it will be Springfield and Chicago.
