I do not see my exchange reservation in my Upcoming Reservations. I can find it by doing a Reservation Lookup, but there is no obvious place to add the number.
I am pretty sure that I have been able to do this in the past.
Any ideas?

Marriott removed the online feature a long while back. Only way is to call.

And even this is not guaranteed. They changed their policies so you're not supposed to be able to add it to an II reservation, but keep calling back and you should be successful.

I just always have added it when I check in.

I've given up on calling Marriott's 800 number to try to add my Marriott Rewards number to my timeshare reservation. The last few calls have been unsuccessful.

However, I usually will call the resort a few weeks before check-in to make a room request. Often I have no choice but to leave a message. But on those occasions where a real person answers the phone, they have sometimes been nice enough to add my MR number to my reservation.

Yeah, that functionality was removed back before they brought DC on. Perhaps in 2008 or 2009. Then for a while the functionality was there to add it, but it didn't work for MVCI reservations.

I have never once not been able to add my rewards number by calling the reservations line. Not one time has it not worked and this is for well over 50 reservations in the last few years. Occasionally I will get a reservation rep that says they are not sure if they can do it but I tell them they can if they will try and it has always worked. It helps if you have Platinum or Gold reservation access since they put more experienced reps on those lines.

I am typically contacted about 3 weeks before check-in asking for my preferences. At that time you can add your MR number. If not then, you can tell them at check-in.

That was my experience too until the last two years, when it changed. Last year I even went all the way up the chain at MVCI corporate to appeal and was told they have changed their policy and will not do it any more until a week or two before check-in. This new policy applies only to II exchanges, I was told.

This action however doesn't make the reservation show up online at Marriott.com. THe only way to get that done is by calling or in the past emailing worked. When you add it at the resort level, that doesn't get transmitted back to corporate, so the reservation won't show up online.

I usually don't stress over it any more. If I can add it in one call I will. If not, I don't go out of the way to do it until preference time. In most cases they have it already noted when I get the preference email.

I suspect that I get better room location when they know my elite and owner status, hence I stress over making sure they know it by linking the MR number to the II reservation.

MVCI? Maybe that's your issue. MVCI supposedly cannot add the number to the reservation. I was referring to calling the Marriott hotels reservation line, preferably platinum. The reps there can always add the number. I believe all that MVCI can do is call the marriott reservation line and add it on our behalf. The MVCI reps do not have direct access to the marriott.com reservation system.

Sorry, I did not mean MVCI. I actually went up through he hotel side, failing at the platinum line level and at two levels of corporate. When that failed, I tried MVCI but they could not help either.

Not sure how much weight they put behind Elite status. I have never seen a preference priority list that includes MR status and an II exchange usually puts you pretty low on the list unless you are also a MR owner or an owner at that resort. Ownership level may be taken in to consideration, but they know that regardless if your MR number is attached or not.

Do they tie Marriott ownership to email adddress? In other words, how do they know that I own other Marriott timeshare? I believe they do give preference to Marriott owner, even if the ownership is not at the same resort.

I often tell them that I am an owner or own at other Marriott resorts when providing my preference, but they always seem to know anyway. I think they may receive the II membership number back from II when they receive confirmed exchange reservation details. Marriott does maintain that information in your profile, so they may use that. This is of course all speculation. I have also suspected that they either systematically match up the guest name to owner names. That would work easier for some owners than others. When we receive preference emails, they often cite that they have already attached the MR number to the reservation, even for those cases where we didn't get it attached ahead of time. When clicking through the link to provide preference requests, I do always see my MR number listed.

I do the same thing, but it is often wrong and in our experience sometimes hard to correct. We make the reservation under my wife's name and MVCI number, but with an II exchange it often comes back with my number attached because I am primary on our account. Then we tell the resort to change it and they do, but at check-in more often than not it has not been changed. Then we change it at the desk and USUALLY it works. However, we just came back from a stay at Hilton Head where both resorts were credited wrong. It has since been corrected for those stays.

Ditto! Similar issue here. Last year, the 2nd week was missing my MR number. I emailed them before arrival linking the 2 weeks (both were through II). Then at check in they put my week 1 and week 2 as separate rooms as they did not link them. The person then noted (I reminded him) that I am a Marriott owner, he went to check with his manager and they fixed it the following day to ensure I stayed on in the same room for week 2. I also asked them to make sure my MR number was listed for week 2 reservation. I double and triple checked on separate days and each time I was assured that it was on it. I came back and there was no credit for the week 2 nights. I called MR and they then credited me with the week 2 nights.
