I thought I’d try something different for my YouTube travel channel by producing short, Un-narrated one minute room tours. I’ll still produce the full length narrated video reviews but thought the short tours might be good for those who don’t want or need a full 3 to 7 minute video review.

My suggestion is to lose the music for such a short video...distracts from focusing on trying to take in everything you see in one minute. Or at least something more subdued and in the background.

You could mute it if the music is bothersome.

It will be followed up in a couple of days with a regular video that’s slower and narrated. There had been a few members that had requested shorter videos in the past, so I thought I’d start posting both a regular YouTube video plus a YouTube short of same room. I might try to see if I can squeeze a resort tour down to 60 seconds as well later on down the road

Good luck on the brevity - I feel like a hotel room is hard to do in a short format (though I guess no speaking might work) forget about a whole resort/2BR or bigger TS unit.

I've avoided publishing shorts on my channel. They are fed to a different audience and the feed works completely differently. Shorts get fed up in the shorts feed where people just swipe to the next video. The audience is very different than the audience that watches the long form videos. I've posted a few vertical short videos to Instagram and see where the developers post a lot of similar videos to their Instagram and YouTube. I don't see a lot of engagement with them.

After 4+ years I have all of 350 subscribers, so it really doesn’t matter all that much. I kind of like thinking about what music to put with what video and that makes it kind of fun.

Its good to try new things. I liked the music, although I must admit that I'm not a big fan of the short video format in general. I do watch most or all of your longer videos.

I really liked the short video. I keep my volume down so didn't hear the music but easy to mute if I had or maybe I would have liked it. For a minute of my time I can decide if I want to watch the longer one. The unit itself is important to me. I sometimes find the resort videos too long (not yours necessarily; just a general comment).

I struggle trying to keep resort tour videos shorter. I want to try and show as much as I can and not miss anything. Then there is something that someone might want to see and if I skip it they ask where was the *whatever*. So it goes.

I tend to probably show too much in the rooms (in the kitchen mainly), but then every once in a while someone comments that they are glad I showed a certain thing because it might save them having pack it and bring it with them.

It is hard to please everybody (that is what the fast forward button is for and easier than making up for something that is not there). I am extremely grateful to all of you who produce these videos.

The dedicated 2 bedroom's hallway from the dining room looking toward the door is very commercial looking. I am not talking about your video, I am talking about my actual visits. I look from the dining table, as we play Ticket to Ride with friends, and the lighting, the walls, it's not very attractive. Do you notice it? The lockoff unit, I didn't notice it as much.

I think one of the main early comments I got was something like "you should show more of the resort".

I didn’t really pay that much attention. Willow Ridge was a failed Horizons brand which was initially cheaper with fewer in room amenities. When they decided to dump the Horizons idea and tried to upgrade the resort to “Marriott” standards, there was only so much they could do.

should be dancing to the music while you video! =D:cheer:

the journey into shorts has been absolutely fascinating! its so much different than longform in nearly every way!

everyone starts somewhere, its wild to go back and watch some of the first efforts in streaming but you are doing more than most!

I'm laughing, because I always think that the hardest part of videos like this is finding angles where you don't catch yourself in any of the mirror shots. You ALMOST succeeded, but not quite! Not sure it is always possible to avoid them!
