We have 9 days in Scotland and 4 more in London in mid to late May (non timeshare). So, we will be flying into the US from London. We have traveled extensively throughout the past 2 years out of the USA (with no insurance) and have always tested negative but, for some reason we are concerned this time after hearing about the many "no symptom positives" people are seeing. Not really interested in coving the trip, more worried about the additional cost of lodging in London if one or more of us needs hotel coverage etc.

For those that choose to insure their trips, where have you found the best travel insurance ? Thanks.

Check out some of the aggregator sites like InsureMyTrip or SquareMouth.

We are huge fans of SquareMouth.

I'd avoid Allianz Global Assistance, like the plague.

For International trips, (in addition to Trip Cancellation/Interruption Insurance) we ALWAYS purchase medical evacuation insurance, from AARP (MedJet Assist), MedJet Assist, or International SOS. In the unlikely event that you require medical evacuation, those two, very respectable companies, get involved in the patient's care (from a coordination perspective), from the moment that they are contacted, until the time that the patient is safe and sound in a hospital in the USA.

I don't remember who is affiliated with who, but I think Johns Hopkins Emergency Medicine faculty provide medical oversight/coordination to one of the above, and University of Pittsburgh Emergency Medicine faculty, do the same, for the other. Emergency Medicine faculty at, both, Hopkins and PITT are nationally renowned. In fact. PITT EM faculty provide medical direction to most of the USA commercial airlines, when they have in-flight medical emergencies.

The Chase Sapphire Reserve card covers some of these situations including Emergency Medical Evacuation.

Also a big fan of Squaremouth. For many years now. Just needed them once for lost luggage in Peru. Not even me, actually my wife and son.

I will look into that since that is our primary card......thank you.

Sure, Fortunately I haven't had to use it. It looks like the CSR covers most of the components one might hope to have covered with a trip that's interrupted once it starts. I don't see anything that suggests it covers Covid quarantine in place though.

Read this post with interest as a traveler from the household will be going on a medical mission to Guatemala very soon. Flight and some medical is covered by Allianz ( I know, I know but cheap and offered by airline when making reservations) Should more insurance be purchased? AARP and perhaps SOS are upwards of $500 to $600. Do you all do this when going overseas?

Looking for annual travel / multi trip insurance. What is a good insurer to use?

We sort them out with www.squaremouth.com/ Insurers change coverages all the time. You also don't say what you want insured for. Domestic or International? Like are you on Medicare? Have pre-existing conditions? age? Does your present insurance cover travel?

International, no preexisting conditions, not on Medicare, middle aged, present insurance doesn’t cover outside of US.
