Trip delayed, how to submit a claim?

My flight to Costa Rica was delayed due to airplane maintenance, causing me to miss my connection to CR. I'll get losing a night at Los Suenos. I purchased insurance through MVC. Do I submit a claim for the 1 night? Need advice on what/how to submit a claim. Thanks in advance.

What does your policy say? There will be a 'How to file a claim' as well as a 'what's covered?' areas in the insurance paperwork. There may be an online claim form. It may be up to you to determine what is the value of your loss. Perhaps 1/7th of the cost of the week's points and exchange fees. You'll surely need the airline's boarding passes showing that the first flight was cancelled and subsequently re-issued when the actual flight was boarded. It's unlikely that the insurance carrier will take your word that the flight was cancelled causing you to miss a flight.

To conclude, I was reimbursed the maintenance fees for the night I missed in Costa Rica, about a month after I initiated the claim for trip interruption. PayPal deposit hit today.
