Just got a call from this organization called Tri-Marketing.com. Has anybody heard of them and are they legit. i usually deal with 7across but last year I did try Trading Places. There phoning me saying I have all these unused points (I was never aware I was getting points to start with) and they have people guaranteed to take these points. Also, how could I have all these unused points if I’ve only used Trading Places once. And, of course I will get a ton of money if I put up a minimum $399.
I think it’s a scam and before I write it off totally I just want to see if anybody knows about them.
Any info greatly appreciated.

The only truth in any of that is that you will give them a minimum of $399

If you pay them, or any other advertising/listing company charging hundreds or even thousands of dollars, you will be throwing away your money.

Red flags:

Cold call - how many legit companies do you know that cold call irregardless of DNC rules and ask for money? Answer is no legit company does.

New website - created 7 months ago

Zero internet presence - only way I could find them was to google their exact web address. How can they effectively market your timeshare when people can’t find their website?

This business model is very popular - Anyone can start this kind of business, including criminals. It is popular because it is easy money for little work. The goal is the upfront fee. It is almost like a ponzi scheme. Cold call, collect upfront fees, place an ad with little details on the website that was created quickly and without concern for user friendliness, combine it with hundreds of other ads that make it impossible to find your ad, promise to forward any offers to the owner (as long as the reps aren’t pulled away from the cold calling, which continues day after day, hour after hour.

This company will likely stay around for a year or two and then close shop. All those ads people paid for? Gone… not that they were helpful anyway. When this business goes out of business there will be many more new ones taking it place with a business model which is identical to this one.

To add to RX8's analysis, go to the website and click on "shop now." Then choose any item - maybe a vacation package, maybe a luxury car. Try to "buy" it. The item is not even available. The website is a showcase with no expectation of transactions happening. It is total fluff. Not nice people.

I also have been been contacted by this so called company with the same lies but many more.
First offer: I was told I have 12 weeks vacation points through RCI, they have all kinds of seminars coming up that their clients are in need of. I could sell anywhere between a week or all 12. For each week sold you could have guaranteed return of $1,600 but have to pay a fee to RCI that they called a transfer fee of $299 the second offer I received a week later was now $1,900 but I negotiated the feed down to $250 per week sold this time that fee was explained as there advertising and selling this to their clients. This is our first timeshare ever bought and it did not go well. I wanted this to be legit but a lot of red flags; the $ amounts changed every time we talk to them, spoke to a different person each and every time, they put you on hold every time they need to "ask their boss", four different times they couldn't make a simple phone transfer to a different department leaving me on hold then calling me back on a separate line stating their phone system is not working properly, requiring money up front, no in-house financing for the up front cost they require, they spell tri-marketing for their website address yet on their web page, their name does not show any dash between tri marketing at all. And yeah their website has nothing to buy looks like anyone could have made it after watching 1 YouTube video. I was falling for this because I'm in a really hard financial situation and even started applying for a loan yesterday to cover that upfront loan. Glad I found a discussion here first. Information they gave me; Jeff Pierre 321-329-8525 Florda, New York office 80 Mountain View Ave, Pro River NY 10965 Customer Service phone number 1 800-957-1132. Oh and they told me since I wanted to sell all 12 weeks and was going to pay them 3,000 this time I would be a premiere partner and never have to pay this upfront cost again. So next year if we wanted to do this again there would be no upfront fee's. Don't fall for all these lies. Hope this helps people. I need to now report this to the FBI I think.

Thanks everyone, I have decided they are not legit. It’s kinda funny after I posted the original post, the calls stop coming.

@EmployeeMalibu and @gomo2010

Glad you both avoided losing thousands of dollars. I often research and post replies to the many questions we get about these scammers. They are all exactly the same with the only difference being the name of the company. I am starting to feel like a broken record because the answers are always exactly the same. What keeps me going is seeing people like yourselves that searched out the name of the company and posted here before throwing your money out the window.

Now my rant. These companies have one goal and that is the upfront fee. They disguise their real intentions by creating a useless website that looks pretty but lacks any real substance. That is the key to their stealing because they can argue in court that they provide a service for the thousands of dollars they charge. What do you get for those thousands? A generic “ad” that looks like it was written by a 6th grader that has no details. This same “ad” is used for everyone that shares the same resort (a single “ad” even if 50 people with the same resort pays them thousands of dollars each). On top of that, there is no search function so one must scroll through the many random ads to see what they have. Even if one sees a resort they might like there are no dates associated with it and no easy want to inquire about it. Quite frankly, I wouldn’t be surprised that if they happen to get a potential inquiry that it is just ignored because all their employees are cold calling against DNC rules for more upfront fees. They already have your money, why do they need to expend time and energy to respond to them? This has me wondering too, if they get an inquiry through their website for a specific resort, and they have 10 people who paid for an ad for that same resort, who would they even forward that offer to? Answer is no one, because the business of advertising your timeshare is a sham. We know it is a sham because when they cold call they outright lie to people to get the upfront fee. It is my belief that this business model attracts criminals who have figured out that it is easier, and less riskier for jail time, to create an advertising listing company versus robbing a bank. Same result (bags of cash) just less risk.

The people operating these businesses should be put in jail. Unfortunately, I don’t think the authorities see through the sham or they don’t think it is big enough to spend their time pursuing. In the meantime, thousands of people are being stolen from.

Hi all! Just got called by Tri Marketing. Same story, different spin. This time they said from II I had a lot of unused getaways or certificates etc and they had a few corporate conventions in Orlando which they needed more space for and wanted to get this people into presentations. What seemed really hokey to me was that I apparently have unlimited of these weeks and they can give me $1600 to $1800 per week from 4 to 12 weeks. They didn't mention a fee as I said I needed to talk to my husband about it (my stall tactic do some online research and get this forum's advice). Seems to good to be true and so it most likely is. Anyone else get this spin on it? I am glad I read your replies though once they told me there was a fee I would not do it.
