I have tried several google searches but the info is not very clear.

Would anyone know the most cost effective way for one person (a healthy spry female senior citizen) to get from the San Francisco Airport (arriving around 2:00 p.m. on a weekday) to a private home near I-4 in Antioch, without renting a car?

You can take BART to Concord - which is about 15 mi. from Antioch. Can someone pick you up in Concord? If not, you can take a cab from Concord to Antioch.

BART is the subway, and there is a station in the airport-

BART strike

If you use BART in the next few weeks be sure to check ahead to see if they are on strike.

When we lived in the Bay Area we used a great car service, Ambassador. Door to door service, very reliable. They won't be cheap, but they're worth it.

Second the BART vote to Pittsburg

See if you can get a pickup or cab (or check on the bus service) from there - you can probably get easy bus service to the mall or the college and that gets you pretty close.

If you use BART in the next few weeks be sure to check ahead to see if they are on strike.

It is highly likely that there will be a BART strike starting Oct14 (end of 60 day cooling off period) as the sides are far apart.

Otherwise SFO to Antioch on BART is way to go - there is a BART station at SFO.

Thank you, thank you for the quick and wonderful information!
Sure beats paying $185. for a cab from the SFO airport. That's like the cost of plane fare across the country.

Not a Bay Area Person, but OAKLAND is closer to Antioch than SFO ?

Oakland is closer, but it doesn't have a direct link to BART like SFO does.

The OP says she is going to somewhere in Antioch near Hwy. 4 (it isn't I-4). There is a whole lot of Antioch near Hwy. 4, at least ten miles of it, from Somersville all the way out past the turn, almost to The Delta. The bus goes part of the way, but to take it further out than Delta Fair, which most of you are thinking about, is a real loooooong ride, twisting and turning thru many neighborhoods.

If you are going further than Delta Fair, probably best if you take a taxi from Pittsburg BART. Not too many taxis anywhere else in the area.

Fern (used to live in far East Antioch, two blocks from the orchards)
