my wife and I have a deeded contract and non-deeded contract and VIP status as a result of the combination of both contracts. We would like to leave my ownership interests as well as VIP status to our children. Does anyone know if VIP status is inheritable? If not, could adding the children to the contracts prior to death solve the problem? Has anyone else successfully tackled this issue? Is there another solution? Thanks.

Your children can inherit your VIP status. If you've had it awhile, and it includes free housekeeping, that should transfer as well (newer VIP contracts don't have that benefit). I believe the policy states benefits will transfer to immediate family (defined as spouse, children, grandchildren).

See the sticky a the top of this program. These programs go by a variety of names, I believe the Legacy program is the one that will handle the family transfer.

Ask for details such as if your account is locked during the transfer, what happens to current reservations.

I think a better suggestion to get you started (and more knowledgeable) is to add your names to an existing contract. That lets you use things as well as your parents still can. As long as you have an amicable agreement amoungst yourselves regarding usage and payment of maintenance fees, I personally don't see an advantage to getting it out of their names now (and lots of advantages to adding yours). There would be a fee to do that (add your name to the existing account).

Whatever you do -- do not ask or take advice from the sales people. Stay away from presentations. They do not know how family transfers or inheritances work. They will give you advice that will likely involve purchasing something to make things better, or easier, or less risk. None of which is true.
