i just found this. starpoints may be transferred between 2 specifically designated Preferred Guest accounts sharing the same residential mailing address . with the exception of Starwood Vacation Ownership Preferred Guest account, SVOPG may transfer starpoints between 2 designated starwood vacation ownership starwood preferred guest accounts, regardless of whether or not the residential mailing address is the same on both accounts.

does this mean a each person in a family who has their own starwood account with starpoints can transfer points into a family members account?

the SVOPG can transfer starpoints into any other SVOPG(not a family member)?

Yes to the first question - I transfer points from my husband's acct. to my acct. Just takes a phone call.

Call 1 888 625 4988

You will need to know that password for the other person's acct. and it wouldn't be a bad idea to have them there when you make the call, in case they ask to talk to them.

I can't answer the second question.

You have to call - I tried to do it online and I got a message that I had to call.

Apparently the online thing is to combine 2 accounts as opposed to transferring points from one acct. to another.

My experience is similary to Denise's. Called and had them switch from DH to my account. No problem.

I have also seen posts on FlyerTalk that make it seem like it is very easy to transfer SP to others who have different names/addresses, but I have not tried this myself.

This is good to know. My BIL and SIL have around 300k to 400k starpoints sitting in thier account not being used. They have not used thier timeshare weeks for the past two years, and have not booked at all for this year. I really hate to see all of thier SP expire in 2 years.

Can someone put the starpoints in their Trust and give 'x' amount to heirs?

On a related note....

Is it possible to make separate StarPoint transfers into my child's Frequent Flyer Account with a particular airline?

Right now both of my children (8 and 11) are approximately 7,000 miles short of a free ticket on one airline. It sure would be nice to be able to transfer some of my miles over to them.

Neither of them have SPG accounts.

starpoints expire from TS in 6 years.

open spg accounts in their names and then transfer 20000 into their account and then put the 25000 into their FF account.

Yes, I know. They bought three units four years ago and got a bunch of nice incentives. They had wanted to go to Hawaii and all the extra starpoints is what closed the deal on the three Starwood units. They were given enough points to fly first class to Hawaii and stay a week at the Westin Resort.

But my BIL had fallen ill two years ago and has been fighting it off since then. His wife is too concerned to book a trip that far away to have him get sick again. Last year I rented two of thier units for them to cover thier maintenance fees. This year they have not done anything with thier units.
