Transfer Points

A friend has about 1800 banked points due to expire in June 2024. She is wanting to make a reservation in 2024 but requires about 2000 points more. She asked me if I had any points and I mentioned that I still had about 2500 points. She asked if I could transfer them to her. I mentioned that I don’t think that I can because my points are 2023 points but unbanked. My understanding is that if they are to be used in 2024 then I would have to bank them into 2024 in order to use them for that year. This change would then nullify me from transferring them to her. Am I correct in my thinking? Sorry for the question now but the MVC offices are closed. Thanks in advance,

I think you got it. You cannot transfer banked points. Points can only be moved once. You will need to transfer 2024 points to your friend.

As mentioned, you must transfer 2024 use year points. You can of course do that and then just bank forward your 2023 use year points to use yourself.

If your friend’s points expire June 2024, and she had a usage for them in July - Dec 2023, you could transfer your 2023 Calendar Use Year points to her to use for such a usage.

Thanks to everyone for your kind advice. You have contributed very well thought out comments to my inquiry. I just wanted to verify if my initial thoughts were correct. I will suggest that she consider booking in 2023 if there is any availability as suggested by Fasttr so she can use my points before I bank them for 2024. Otherwise, she can purchase points on Vacation Points Exchange as suggested by The Time Traveler. I have used this site before and the transaction is quite quick and secure when using a verified source. You could also reserve part of the days under your account after banking and part under hers and then she can request to be in the same unit. Just make sure it's exactly the same type of unit including view, lock off, etc.
