Exchanging a week for a cruise discount is not worth it IMHO. You still have some cruise fees and exchange fees to pay and loss of your week. You can get a better deal elsewhere.
Do a google search and check out one of the many discount cruise brokers, or check with a local travel agent. Trading a week for a cruise is rarely a good deal.
For many years RCI Guides received the question from members: "When will RCI offer cruises for exchange?" It took a lot of work and negotiating with cruiselines, but nearly 10 years ago RCI created a cruise exchange program.
We offer the best pricing that we can negotiate; however, sometimes the cruiselines can discount their own pricing below our negotiated rates. It may make sense to exchange your deposited week for some cruises, and not for others, depending on the specific cruise offer. But it pays to compare pricing and review your options.
You may find some previous discussions about this program helpful:
I just won a guest certificate on RCI. (I am an interval member, but not currently an RCI member). Are these exchangeable for discounted cruises as well?
The cash portion of a ''cruise exchange'' is often more than the total cash price through a cruise brokers, and you don't have to give up your timeshare week to the cruise brokers. You can find a list of cruise brokers in a sticky on the TUG Travel board or under the Cruises board on the links section at www.timeshareforums.com (look under Link Directory under Website Navigation).
I have found tremendous deals on vacationstogo.com. Three of us took a 7 day Celebrity cruise on Mercury in July of 2005 for like $1200 TOTAL. One of those quirky last minute deals.
If you won a guest vacation, it is most likely connected to the account of one of our subscribing members. Please send an e-mail to feedback@rci.com with TUG in the subject line. Provide as much information as you have about the vacation and the Communications Team will help you to determine how it may be redeemed.
