Hello ,I wanted to ask does RCi populate the options and duration for vacations on destination based on how many points are in your account??? I ask because I searched for Aruba and I only got 3 results for 49k points for a week. I added my 2 kids and then I got 2 with 3 days only.? What gives? Thanks

Do you mean 49 tpu's or 49,000 rci points? If tpu's when does your deposit expire? It isn't unusual for it not to let you see anything after the expiration. If you have another deposit to combine with it may show availability but then tell you that you have to combine. If RCI points when does you membership term exprire?

My rci 49,000 points expire at the end of the year on my binomial yearly. But does RCi show you only what your points can purchase? Also every time I add my kids I get less days. What gives with the availability?

You get fewer options when you add your children because it filters out a studio that sleeps 2. I have a lot of points so I can't say for sure but I believe it shows you everything. Are you looking at specific dates. When I look I see 9 and if I filter for more than 2, it brings it down to 8. Some of the ones I see only have 1 night available. Which 3 resorts do you see? You can ignore the exchange plus for 3 nights those are hotel units and rarely a good value.

yes. and the exchange fee can be $399-$1799 in addition to the points for that 3 night stay. If you look at the extra vacation for the same dates, it would be available probably for $599-1999 plus tax depending on the dates.

I almost always see resorts/stays that 'cost' more points than I have in my RCI account. For instance, right now (almost the end of my use year) I have just 500 points left but I can search and see lots of resorts for in the many tens of thousands of points that are available until my current RCI membership runs out next year.

I have found I can eliminate a lot of the Exchange Plus results by choosing the size of unit filter to be a 1 bedroom or larger. As previously mentioned those Exchange Plus results are just rooms in a hotel that RCI has negotiated with the company to allow their members to use. It says right on their website that they are not typical timeshare resorts. The fees are crazy and if you really need to stay in that area you will likely find a hotel room using a discount site, or even the hotel's own site, for less money and then you'll also still have those points for another vacation.

Did you check the room sizes? It's possible your first search pulled more options bc they were 1 bedrooms. Most of the 3 and 5 day options I see tend to be 2 bedrooms or larger.
