Marriott Grande Vista EOY
I have a week's property - a 3 BR at Marriott Grande Vista, EOY odd. I already reserved, deposited and split and traded into Interval International the 2 BR section into Marriot Newport Coast (over Christmas!) and now am thinking about trading the studio for Disney World at Spring Break 2026. Is it possible to trade into another Marriott resort outside of Orlando, and then EPlus trade into one of the Disney property resorts? I realize that Disney has a regional block, so no direct trading into Disney from MGV. Otherwise - how would I get back to Orlando?

Thanks for the advice.

It should not be allowed. You never know if you will catch a glitch with II but the restriction is based on your original deposit, not what you currently have reserved through II.

If your MGV is in the Florida club, you can reserve a non Orlando and then deposit that and then exchange into DVC..

Or perhaps do an exchange swap with some friends here.

It's weird that my MGV can see other Orlando resorts in II searches when it shouldn't be allowed. You would think they would filter out the resorts you aren't supposed to be able to exchange into them.

MGV is part of the Florida Club.
In order to trade into Disney, you can reserve your ownership 6 months out at Ocean Pointe or BeachPlace Towers or Miami Doral and then exchange into Disney or any other non Marriott/Sheraton resort.
If you want to exchange into other Marriott Sheraton Orlando resorts you can use Grande Vista.

Do you see non Abound properties?

MGV can see other Orlando resorts in II, but it cannot see Disney.

However, as @tschwa2 has noted, if this is a Florida Club Unit, you can book another resort in the FC and deposit it to II. I confirmed this myself just yesterday. MGV 1 bedroom cannot see DVC, but I can see it with my 1 bedroom Marrriott Ocean Pointe that I reserved through the Florida Club with my MGV lock-off.

I can see other Marriott and Vistana Orlando units with my MGV II deposit as well as many other brands.

Oops, did not see your response before I posted!!

The regional block is something that developers have to specifically request; it isn't automatic. Westgate and DVC apply the block to other developers including Marriott. If you can see the other Orlando resorts, that means that developer has chosen not to enforce the region block and you are perfectly fine exchanging into those if you want.

Thanks, I was not aware of this!

I only exchanged into DVC using an Orlando deposit when DVC first returned to II. Initially they did not have the regional block in place. There is no way around the block now except to use the Florida Club. Exchanging into a non-Orlando resort won't help you as the block is based on your original deposit.

As far as I know, only DVC and Westgate have regional blocks in Orlando. Other Orlando resorts can't exchange into them and they both go further preventing their own members from exchanging back into their resort system. In fact, Westgate owners can't even take advantage of the cheap II getaways at other Orlando Westgate resorts. I guess they don't want Westgate owners to know how cheap they could be staying there.

I do believe that Westgate owners can use ACs to exchange back in, just not one of their deposits.
