Trading for reward points and transfering to SPG after August ?

Up until April there was very specific language on Marriotts FAQ that one could not transfer points gained from a timeshare interest to SPG. That language is no longer present.

Dh and I are considering trading in our 2019 Aruba weeks for reward points which if we can be used towards an SPG property in Mauritius. Yesterday when I called rewards, I was told it cant be done now but she wasn't certain about after August and of course she went to check promptly disconnecting me after I had already been on hold for 40 minutes.

Today I called the elite line instead and the agent checked with 2 different sources with the conclusion that no one knows for sure.

Does anyone have a definitive source of info they could point me to? The points trade is only worthwhile to us if it works for this purpose otherwise we'll simply book our weeks and do an II deposit.
 
You definitely can trade your Aruba weeks for MR points (if it tradable for points) and then transfer it to SPG now. After August 1 it will be one combined program and I guess you will be able to use MR points for stays at SPG properties too.

Historically, despite language like this, Marriott's system did not even track which points came from timeshares. I heard that over the years from at least 2 or 3 Marriott reps. So I would not expect a problem in your situation.
