Tradimo Kyoto Gojo

The website says December 2025. I checked again this morning but no change.

A bit weird / unexpected that it has NO booking fee (all other HGVC resorts are $79 for me) ! Just booked June for fun and it's pretty cheap in points, not like other Japan properties!

Also werid that I don't have the option to "Cancel Reservation", unlike other reservations I made. Guess I can still call to cancel but no idea why they do that.

When searching the calendar it states “2 night minimum “, but when booking it says 3 night minimum, which falls in line with the normal HGVC properties.

I have AI/bHC, and it did not charge me to reserve. I booked 3 days I “think” I will be there, though I haven’t pulled the trigger on flights yet…waiting for them to drop in price.

Are you already paying AI club fees? I'm not and only this HGVC gives me free booking. Also just noticed that on the mobile app, there is the "Cancel" button, so clearly on the web it's a glitch, just for this new resort.

There must be some HGVC spies here. Just noticed that they fixed both bugs. Now I can "cancel" the reservation booked online, and for another booking attempt, I will be charged $79,

just FYI, somehting I saw a month ago:
"Kyoto will implement a new accommodation tax effective March 1, 2026, making it the highest in Japan. The tax rates will vary based on lodging costs, ranging from ¥200 for budget stays to up to ¥10,000 per person per night for luxury accommodations. The increased revenue will be used to manage the impacts of overtourism"

As someone who has spent much time in Kyoto, I am interested in what other people do.
1st time visiting? How many days? See what? DIY touring around or taking guided / group tours?

We spent a month of the summer in Kyoto in 2022. We flew in only a few days after they opened up to limited gaijin after lockdowns. It was empty. It was dirt-cheap. The govt was still subsidizing hotel rooms. It was empty. Awesome. Just us and a few other gaijin and school-groups. On that arrival, Narita Airport was a ghost-town. It was one of the more shocking things I have ever seen, almost like something in the movies ... "I Am Legend" etc.

A year later, we were in Japan. We did not stop in Kyoto, but on the news there was constant talk of Kyoto being over-run with tourists. Already in summer 2023 it was obvious something was going to happen.

just google "Kyoto over-tourism" and you'll find some amazing statistics

Oh, scuttle-butt says that it has become so crowded and so expensive (for people earning yen) that school-groups are avoiding it. It was always the #1 destination for school-groups to go. By far. And, you may not know it, but Japanese schools take their classes on many more and generally further trips than US schools do. They also have longer School years, so they are still "in school" for much of the summer

another FYI, I recently watched a film on PRime Video named "River". Japanese film set in Kibune. Worth a watch, esp if you're going to Kyoto. Mostly for the vibe and scenery, rather than the story. I've been to Kibune. Recommend it. Some interesting little tidbits and jokes about Kyoto.

Im going in june 2026 for a total of 14 days 5 days in Tokyo and 9 in Tradimo Kyoto Gojo

Still unsure if it is supposed to be a 3 night minimum or 2 night minimum, but I went ahead and reserved a 2 night reservation on top of my 3 night because the system let me.

I still haven’t finalized my Japanese trip itinerary, and I’ll just cancel one of them when I get more certainty in my plans.

The info from the Resort page on the website shows the following, including a 2-night minimum in the Club and Open Seasons.

Hmmm, when I first booked last week, it wouldn’t allow a 2 night reservation, so I booked a 3 night. It allows me to book a 2 night reservation now, though if I try to change my 3 night reservation to 2, it gives me a “3 night minimum stay” prompt.

But what a deal, weekday nights in gold season are less than $100/night based on my Elara MF cost.

I dropped my 3 day reservations and kept the 2 days. The flight prices dropped last night enough for me to commit to the Japan trip. Staying on the Hilton portfolio for most of the trip with my hoarded HH point stash. Still amazing how cheap the cost is for these rooms. As a comparison, 2x the size and 1/2 the cost of the Kyoto station Doubletree rooms, with gold season weekday rooms at my Elara MF cost.

I took a look at current availability on this property. Wow, it’s almost like OO!
