We are owners in Wyndham and booked a Tradewinds Antigua cruise thru RCI exchange for June 24 thru July 1, 2023. Does anyone have any good tips? We have never sailed before so any insight would be appreciated.

Search Tradewinds at the top right of your screen. Also, a member named Sandy VDH has been on a bunch of Tradewinds cruises. They can probably provide plenty of info.

Bring suction cup clips and heavy duty clothes pins. I was in a luxury class boat and we had AC all night but I brought a small fan just in case. I didn’t need it but it was nice to have.

I did French Polynesia via an RCI Exchange. It was amazing!

  • Don't over pack, you will likely live in a bathsuit and cover-ups all week, except evening dinner and 2 meals on shore.
  • Bring 3 or 4 bathsuits and coverups (women) or Tshirt/Fishing Shirt/Hawaiian shirt (men), and leave 1/2 the clothes at home.
  • Bring softsided luggage if you can, easier to store.
  • Don't bring a lot of shoes you really only need them when you go ashore.
  • Swim shoes are a good idea.
  • Bring Plenty of sunscreen and a hat/rash guard, it will keep you from getting burned
  • Sunglasses, especially polarizing are the best. Bring a string for them, and a string for your hat.
  • If you are concerned about sea sickness bring ginger, OTC or get prescription meds.
  • Don't worry about clothes pegs, they usually have plenty.
  • A suction cup clip or hook is a good idea.
  • Don't bring too many electonics, at most a phone, small camera, and reader/tablet
  • Bring cash for tips to crew.
  • Minimal makeup/hair products/hair styling - just considered yourself at the beach the whole time.
  • If you are picky about your fins, bring your own. (I do, but then again I wear a womens 12N)
  • A small dry bag, or dingy transfers or rain or splashes, after all sailing is a water sport.
That would be the stuff off the top of my head.
